bahh... i seem to have a little problem subsidizing people's hobbies
and/or work in the name of "the r3volution". They don't seem to be
officially endorsed by the campaign either, however, they seem to
be sponsored by Starbucks and Monster Energy Drinks!

Maybe they are legit... but sometimes it is hard to tell with so many
people trying to take advantage of generous and genuine folks by
associating themselves with "the r3volution". e.g., People want help with
their office space lease, but when you look at it, the office is in a prime
location, and one wonders do you really need to have the office
at such a high rent area? After all, you don't have to worry about
walk-in business and such... all I'm saying is one WONDERS .... and those
forking money over to these types of "projects" should research before
they pay.

The Freedom Tour don't need to defend their credibility their actions speak for themseleves....

If you don't know who they are maybe we should question your credibility? We need more revolutionary type people spreading the message of freedom.

That is the great thing about "liberty", if this "tour" was made by the government we wouldn't be able to choose to donate or not to donate it would just be taken from us.

Those who want to support this effort can and those who don't want to WON'T, nothing really there to gripe or complain about really.

whatever. donate all you wish. your money not mine.

the question to ask is, whether this "band" formed and is only touring
to promote "liberty" and "freedom" ... or were they gonna be touring
regardless?

The distinction is, if the bad was gonna tour regardless, then they are
tapping into your generous resources to subsidize their tour by
adopting the "freedom tour" motto/tag line.

have at it. double your donations, if you were gonna donate $20, make
it $40 or even $100 or more, just to show me up; to show me how wrong
I am ... and how dare I question something tagged with the word "freedom"
or "liberty" ... how dare I suggest people do a bit more due diligence before
giving away their money to some random "project".... Indeed how dare I?!

It is one thing to ask about something you know little about, quite another to preach sour grapes and be all snippy. I often suggest caveat emptor on projects with no credibilty and documentation, after I have researched them. To just scrooge from ignorance does no-one any good, mostly yourself in this case...

Again, it is great to ask questions, not so great to build statements from assumptions about those same questions...

The Freedom Tour has been a fixture here since the idea was first floated

Again, no one seems to be willing to answer the simple question:
Did this band form with the sole purpose of promoting "liberty" and
"freedom" or did they simply incorporate the message of "liberty"
and "freedom" into their act?

If you can't/won't answer this question, or are simply avoiding it
and instead labeling me with your accusations (e.g., "sour grapes",
"scrooge") then I think I have my answer.

Your attacks on me are nothing more than a variation of what the
neocon have done to you... calling you names and attempt to discredit
you so to divert attention away from them.

In the time you've spent posting in this thread you could have answered the questions yourself. Do a search on the forums for marc scibilia and see how far back it goes...

I apologize if you truly feel that way, but a thick skin is a good thing to have on a political forum.

The fact is that you did not just come on asking valid questions, as you suggest above. You posed rhetorical questions which you proceeded to answer in a negative tone, hence the sourgrapes response. The scrooge thing was born from the first word - "Bah" - of your post.

The fact is that most of us are well aware of most every aspect of this tour, since it was born here and has been a fixture ever since.

In answer to your question, There was no "band" or "tour" before this. Marc had this idea to promote the r3vmarch and got together with Isreal who floated the idea here. After a positive response they went forward and worked with everyone possible developing a schedule and recruiting musicians to back-up Marc.

I can appreciate cynicism, when it is tempered with wisdom, but posting cynical assumptions out of ignorance is never wise.

Perhaps the reason no-one bothered to answer your question is because it is common knowledge to most and the old "Do your own research!" always applies. You are free to display your cynicism all you want, but be prepared to be made fun of if your negative assumptions are not based on reality.

If you are concerned about people taking the grassroots for a ride, start a thread, but please do not tie your assumptions to an ongoing effort without valid cause.

I'm impressed:)

For certain I appreciate what you were saying, it was just in this case it was out of place. I know from experiance that raising funds for something like this is hard and negativity only makes it harder. I tried to make light of it with my scrooge pic and hope you can see it for that.

... and thanks for what you are doing to help the lettertogop folks

I'm driving to Minnesota/Ronstock2 from Texas. I'll be playing my Kazoo and singing freedom songs at truck stops and fast food restaurants (buy a 99-cent Taco Bell burrito, use the bathroom for free- what a deal!) along the way.

With gas over $4/gallon, will anyone help me with a donation? :D

I can gurantee you guys that the musicians on this tour are some of the best i have heard.
Seattle's show was amazing, just amazing!..

I actually was shocked at how good they were. I expect to see and hear more from these guys in the future.

Reminded me of being on the ground floor when Heart was playing in local bars in Seattle in the early 70's. Looking back, i consider myself lucky for getting to see Heart for a 2 dollar cover and a pitcher of beer.

Well they should have invested into a http://www.greasecar.com/ converting a diesel engine to run on vegetable oil from restaurants. That's what my friends band did and they get free gas now.
