View Full Version : I find the increasing INFLATION is making it easier to talk about politics.

While out and about this morning, I found myself wishing that someone would come up with some little business cards that list websites that explain our current crisis: how we got here, and what to do about it. Of course, the main site would be our own CFL.

I could pass them out to every disgruntled grocery shopper in the store that would listen. And that would probably be MOST at this point.

And to think that it's only gonna get worse, what with the FED's promised continuance of its meddling ways.

They're not exactly what you're looking for, but there are two options here (http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?t=142905) for handouts.

Well, that's a good start.

HOWEVER, I think the main goal at this CRITICAL juncture is to mend the wounds. The country is DIVIDED politically, and the political conversation goes from one inane, divisive argument to another.

What we need is something that speaks to the LOWER AND MIDDLE CLASSES and UNITES them. We all know what that is....THE CONSTITUTION.

What we need is something that verifies INDIVIDUAL WORTH as given by our Creator, something that emphasizes our common crises (mostly economic, but loss of civil liberties counts too), something that ILLUMINATES THE PROBLEM and its perpetrators (a link to Nelson Winters' OPERATION EDUCATION would send them to some awesome videos such as America: Freedom to Fascism; Money as Debt, etc.) and a CALL TO BAND TOGETHER as Americans (as opposed to "as Democrats," "as liberals," "as conservatives," "as black Americans," "as Republicans," "as green three-toed sloths" or anything else) under the CFL banner.

Okay...End rant.

People usually don't act until it affects them. Sad really.

Well, I believe we're in luck, because it's starting to affect them.

Witness: Over $4/gallon gas, and the price of food starting to creep up.

I couldn't believe all the price hikes at my local grocery store this morning. It was as if the store manager went through the entire store and marked everything UP.

CFL should be inviting the other 3rd parties to the St. Paul Rally.

I like it. :)

Worst case scenario is that they might refuse. :)

Instead of the word inflation, try the word dilution and use the analogy of dumping 5 gallons of water into a bathtub containing a gallon of kool aid. Ask them if they can conceptualize the change in color from red to light pink? That's what's happening right fucking now to their money.

I absolutely, 100% agree! I think this should be a huge priority for the Revolution... imagine what would happen if all these parties united around a single candidate. It could be a candidate with a platform of nothing more than getting 3rd parties easier ballot and debate access. Hopefully there would be other issues on which everyone agrees as well (such as bringing criminal charges against Bush/Cheney.)

Once we break the 2 party duopoly, there's no limit to what we can accomplish.

I think every party is worth talking with INCLUDING the republican and democratic parties BECAUSE the people within the party are individuals who CAN think for themselves IF they ever decide to.

If we are able to explain or let the manifesto do it for us then MOST see the light and say "ohhhhh that's why we don't need to do this and that"......

Give people a chance to first learn about the revolution, why we think this way and why the constitution makes REAL SENSE then they usually will happily agree with you.

Educate the people and they will soon be on our side. How could you disagree with what Ron Paul wrote in his latest book "The Revolution: A Manifesto" ? Most can't ONCE they actually sit and read it or listen to the audio version.

Let's unite ALL parties under one party that is backed 100% by the constitution and nothing else. We can call this party the "Republican Party" and would be the ONLY party needed because it would be the "peoples' party".

Keep fighting for liberty!

You know...I was thinking, too, that it SHOULD be very easy to educate the OVER-65 crowd, those people who are living on a limited income. THEY, FOREMOST AMONG ALL GROUPS, should understand first-hand the effects of INFLATION.

I believe there is an AARP website, and I'm sure there are many others directed at this group. These people are usually very active voters. Let's go git 'em.

Good idea. And good (but troubling) charts as always, OptionsTrader.

What about stickers to put on gas pumps? It could backfire and be seen as graffiti, but what a great place to get people's attention.

If we put together a professional quality tri-fold brochure asking "Why does gas cost so much?" on the front, and asked station owners to post mount a brochure holder on their pumps, I'm sure a lot of places would be glad to. They want people to understand that they're not the bad guy. Taxpayer's League put this one (http://www.taxpayersleague.org/pdf/TaxpayersGasBags.pdf) (PDF, 750 kb) together a couple of years ago; it could be based on that.

That's quite a read. I just browsed through, but good graphics, good charts, and it is all in layman's terms of energy economics. I can't believe a barrel of oil was only $10 in 1999. And those predictions of oil hitting $100/barrel were being optimistic in retrospect.

One thing that is missing from that particular brochure is the effect the inflation of the monetary supply has had on the price of oil.

I like the idea of asking permission to put brochures on the pumps. And you're right, the gas stations are not the proverbial "bad guy". They end up making the least amount of profit. Gas prices have risen like crazy, and they still make only a few cents per gallon, just as they did when gas was under a buck per gallon.

This is a terrific idea... the brochure could point out that it is NOT THE store owner causing the problem... that he is caught in the middle of this mess and just as much a victim as the rest of us.

That approach could make a good "selling point" for getting them (the store owner) to post the brochures.

Without getting permission it is just another example of vandalism and a violation of the rights (and liberties and property) of the store owner... just like the littering and vandalism that occurred with Ron Paul signs. But, when done correctly you could win over everyone... store owner included. It only takes a little more thought to do things the right way and win even more supporters. Good thinking Jonathan K!
