View Full Version : Do you guys go to any other political forums?

I'm kind of curious what other forums you guys frequent. I've tried to avoid political boards in the past, but now I'd like to talk about my views with others now that Ron Paul has suspended his campaign. I've noticed that in real life people are taking my views more seriously now that RP has dropped out so I wanted to see if the same would happen on certain boards.

Do you actually go there, or is that a joke? I'm fine with registering if you are serious, but I seem to remember a lot people getting banned from there for little to nothing.

Watch yourself, but I do go there.

Being banned is a medal of honor over there. I have one account I make sure not to name Dr. Paul or libertarianism that hasn't been banned yet. The others I use proxies for and speak as I do here ;)

I don't post at any of them, but I do read them on occassion.

eta: LibertyForum is sometimes rough and tumble. The other two are dominated by liberals.

I have looked into some, but the idiocy/stupidity has kept me out of them.
I have not found a bunch of Freedom loving individuals like we have here anywhere else.

Ron Paul Forums is the ideal place for freedom lovers! But we will need to convert others also.

I'd go ahead and register (if you haven't been banned, that is); however, I wouldn't post too many (or ANY) Ron Paul youtubes. Just keep it general. You know....US vs. Big Brother things.

Arguing with statists raises my blood pressure, so I try not to. But I'd love to hear of other forums where sensible people congregate to share news, info, and just shoot the breeze.

If you want to do some subtle proselytizing (or at least get people's minds working), try these:

www.littlegreenfootballs.com
www.redstate.com
www.townhall.com
www.craigslist.com (Go to the World Politics Discussion Forum, bottom left)
www.politico.com
www.dailykos.com

FREEDOM IS POPULAR. (Just don't say "RON PAUL" too often...LOL)

That's the KEY. DON'T ARGUE. Just respect their opinions and refute them like an adult with the appropriate links.

No namecalling allowed. If they start it, they'll usually come around if they see you're sincerely trying to understand their points.

I can't do that.
I have NO respect for some opinions.
To pretend to would be hypocrisy, and I don't like hypocrisy.

That's why I don't go there.

Hannity, here and an insurance forum occassionally.

Hey, Johnrocks!

You are well-loved over at the Hannity Forum. (I am still allowed to READ that forum, but not post in any way).

Just wanted to say that you are another great example of doing it RIGHT: that is, by being respectful and kind, but still forceful in your viewpoints, without being nasty.

If you guys want to make a splash, you have to do it with good salesmanship skills. No headclobbering or namecalling allowed. Have some class, just like our fearless leader.

Well, you don't have to AGREE with them. Just refute them in a kind manner....LIKE RON PAUL does!

Do you guys go to any other political forums?

Not since joining Ron Paul Forums in June 2007. :D

It seems like it would be such a waste of time.

RPF has intelligence, some stupidity, comical relief, important information, lots of facts, engaging debate, conflict, good members and plus it gives one a general feeling that they are among people in search of truth and freedom.

I just can't imagine it getting much better than this...

I've been banned from just about every political forum of every political stripe there is. The only one besides this one from which I haven't felt the ban hammer at least once is Redstate, and that's only because I'm currently doing a stealth Long Troll there. I've got sleeper accounts at Hannity, Free Republic, DU, Daily Kos and Huffington which I use from time to time.

I left one forum that was very socialist oriented. I got jumped anytime I spoke up at all. Lost cause.
I do post occasionally on a site with mixed folks, but it is not a "political" forum. And another that I visit has a strict rule about politics.
As far as trying to change collectivist minds, I only do that on a personal level. I have a hard enough time translating my thoughts to the keyboard. I can sometimes be a little blunt.

It's time to switch tactics.

I know what you mean, though. But I truly believe that people are much more receptive to the message of FREEDOM since Ron is "out of the race." They feel less threatened. And it's up to you to be more civilized.

I can't count the number of times I've heard people say they like Ron Paul, but they can't STAND his supporters. I think they misunderstand our principled passion, but it's true that mutual respect will gain supporters.

That's what I've done to some degree, and that's why I'm still hanging on at Redstate. That and the tactical reason I mentioned.

Its difficult to simulate respect when you have little to none to begin with and when your "opposite number" has none for you. But I understand your point too.

I'm also on a political forum for moms. I'm usually outnumbered by far on both sides but it's fun! The best part is that mainstream Repubs who used to hate me (or so it seemed) are now conceding more and even being respectful towards Ron Paul. They really hate McCain and when I posted the CFL site link they applauded RP's efforts for limited govt.

Now I'm working on changing their "lesser of 2 evils" mindset. I'm making inroads...

But it's time to SPREAD THE MESSAGE. It can be better accomplished by going elsewhere on a regular basis.
