Ron Paul won first place in both GOP straw polls that took place this weekend.

Ron Paul has won first place in half the GOP straw polls so far.

Ron Paul has won first place in more GOP straw polls than any other candidate:

Ron Paul has won six straw polls; the next closest is tied between Romney and non-candidate Fred Thompson, each winning only three straw polls.

Ron Paul has beaten Giuliani in 11 out of 12 straw polls

In both straw polls where Ron Paul won second place, first place was won by a non-declared candidate (Fred Thompson)

Ron Paul has beaten McCain in all 12 straw polls.

Ron Paul also came in 3rd in the MN Straw Poll August 22.

Guess I didn't get that info to Lew Rockwell or whoever compiles these data.

The Indiana one wasn't a state-wide poll. It was only Tippecanoe county. I should mention (I was there) that we probably would have placed an easy 2nd had we been able to show the video we wanted to. Thompson got first because out house rep talked for about 15 minutes about how awesome Thompson is and how much he loved working with him.

Have previous candidates had this sort of straw poll record (especially "2nd-tier," "long shot" candidates)? If not, it sure seems like something news worthy, doesn't it?
