Apparently Douglas and LibertyEagle have infiltrated the biggest GOP site there is and are spreading Ron Paul in a big way in doing so.

Doug has the number one blog, out of 4500 or so, at a NeoCon stronghold. And it is devoted to Ron Paul. This is very significant in the blogosphere.

Doug how long has the blog been at one? Is it normal for a blog to remain at number one for an extended length on that site?

Doug is the genius behind the blog. It's all him.

These days we aren't the only ones over there. Townhall has been infiltrated by several of us. :D More are certainly needed and welcome.

Dean, Townhall is the largest Republican website in existence. In addition to the columns they carry, which have a life of their own in the comments under each one, they also allow anyone to setup their own blog. There are currently 4500 of these blogs. Doug's blog Rx-Dr. Paul is numero uno! Quite a feat. And all of your visits over there help him to keep that title. It's important, because it gets his blog advertised much more, which in turn attracts even more visitors to learn about Ron Paul!!!

Liberty, you seem to know how to "use" that site. I find it's interface design abhorrent.

Is there something I am missing? Is there a way to "rate" particular articles, or blogs in general? I don't see it. Or is the #1 issue purely traffic related?

Infiltrated is the right word, but now Townhall has its neo-con filters up for us. H0, ho.

Specs,

Just go to http://www.townhall.com/columnists/
Pick an article that you think is interesting and click on it. At the end of each article, there is an option to rate it. If you also want to comment on it, click on "comments" at the end of the article. You will need to register to comment.

The easiest way to register is to scroll to the bottom of the comments and fill out the form that you will see. After that, you're pretty set.

As for blogs, like Doug's my understanding is the way they get rated is by amount of traffic and length of time spent on the blog website. I'm sure comments don't hurt any either. This is Doug's blog....
http://rxpaul.townhall.com/

If you ever want to check it's rating, you do so by clicking, "Your blogs" at the top of the page, or by going here:
http://www.townhall.com/youropinion/

Well, I have no problem commenting and whatnot, but I have yet to find the "Rate" option on the rxpaul posts.
Example:

Is the rate feature only available on certain posts or certain blogs?

LibertyEagle
08-28-2007, 08:34 PM
Specs.

I don't believe you can directly rate a blog. A blog gets its standings by the number of hits and the the time you spend on the blog reading articles. At least that is my understanding.

The ratings I was talking about have to do with the articles written by the regular columnists. http://www.townhall.com/columnists/

Thanks, Doug. This looks to be a comment from the author:

Anyone who would like to distribute this video is welcome to a higher quality version of it, suitable for DVD. It is WMV format and is approx. 300MB, so it is much too large to send via e-mail attachment. If you know how I can get it into your hands, please e-mail me the info. and I'll be happy to do so.

So, if we want to get a higher resolution of it for duplication, it sounds like we can.

Is this one that we want to go together and pay to mass produce?

I wish there was more in there about the proper role of government, something about states' rights, the relevance of our Constitution, etc., but from all those I have seen thus far, this one is the best that I can recall. If we wait around for perfection, we may miss the boat entirely. I did love how he interwove some of Barry Goldwater and Ronald Reagan in there.

Wow, it sounds rather Diebold-ian. I can see how that kind of bug would have happened and the reasoning behind the "fix". But if you have the data to prove your traffic superiority.......

I [Josue] wanted to report a recent update that was completed on the Townhall Blogatorium Top Ten list. You will notice over the next few days some readjustments in the blog placement as a result of a bug fix implemented today.

We discovered a bug in the code that was causing blog link trackbacks to be counted as page views in the Top Ten counting functionality. As a result, bloggers that linked back to their own archives or posts would receive an incorrect larger number of "page views" that in fact where not actual reader page views. We have re-rendered the page view calculations with a fix in place, so the new Top Ten rankings should more accurately reflect the current running average of each blog's readership page views.

We apologize to all of our active and hard working bloggers for the mistake and thank you for your ongoing contributions to the great Townhall.com Blogatorium. "

Why does everything have to be a conspiracy theory? Its not like TH banned you. From what it sounds like the bug was legitimate. If they really wanted to get rid of you I dont think it would be that hard for them to delete you from the site.

Doug is working the stats now. He said the hits to his blog were 5 times higher than the nearest competitor, so it seems a little strange that he would be ranked below them. Let's wait to see the numbers.

I may have been hasty, but there's no doubt about a Townhall "conspiracy", if you wish to call it that, against Dr. Paul. If nothing else, it's a conspiracy of silence. Add to that the fact that they censored "Liberty" last weekend. This is not mere negligence.

Sitemeter numbers are relatively worthless and can never be accurate in comparison to server or database based logging, which I believe is how townhall does it. They don't use sitemeter for ranking the user blogs. Do some research on the accuracy of sitemeter. Its not very good.

Doug, what we're wanting to know is, what are the criteria that are examined for the rankings? I know you've said comments, hits and articles read, but does it have a positive impact for just sheer time spent on the site?

What I am interested in seeing is how townhall.com covers the straw poll. After all it is sponsored by townhall.com and named "Townhall.com Presidential Straw Poll"

So I wonder how they are reacting internally to being shunned by the "top tier" and most of the 2nd tier guys? Either they will have to give Ron Paul decent coverage or neglect their freaking event!
