That's only half the story. If you're logged into Wikipedia as a registered user, it hides your IP address.
The Wikiscanner program only catches people dumb enough to edit Wikipedia *AND* not create a registered login.
Personally, I think Wikipedia should show the IP address of all edits, even if you're a registered user.
