WASHINGTON — A former treasurer apparently stole at least $725,000 from the committee that runs House Republican campaigns, investigators for the group said Thursday.

An internal probe alleged that the former treasurer, Christopher Ward, used his authority to order wire transfers to siphon money meant for the National Republican Campaign Committee and other GOP groups into his own accounts. The funds were taken between 2001 and 2007, according to investigators.

Its a shame that our own party cannibalizes itself not just by alienating its own voters, but by stealing from their own coffers.

The GOP is a joke and I never considered it "my" party. This is great news. Less funds to promote neo-con trash McCain. Let the crooked thieves steal from and stab each other!

In reality the GOP has a lot more money on hand than the DNC. From what I've seen the DNC has had to cut convention events because they only have a few million on hand while the GOP has tens of millions to spend on the convention.

The DNC and O! have shown that they can spend a lot of other people's money during this campaign. O! has spent close to 200 million dollars only to lose the popular vote and like 6 of the last 10 primaries several of them by 30-40%.

In NC O! just spent about 10 million telling people how great he is and beat Hill by about 15% but after that he is still trailing McCain by 2% in the latest poll. With the exception of the week after the Democrat's convention this is O's! high water mark and he is still a loser.

...The RNC's April take, which it disclosed in a report it filed Tuesday to the Federal Election Commission (FEC), was the most it has raised in any month in the 2007-08 election cycle. Its partisan counterpart, the Democratic National Committee (DNC), reported raising $4.8 million in April -- less than one-fourth of the RNC's receipts. The DNC has raised less than the RNC in each of the 16 months this election cycle.

The RNC began April with nearly $41 million left to spend, compared to $4.4 million cash-on-hand for the DNC, the FEC reports said.

It really is. What's even funnier is if people believe the paltry figure of 3/4 of a million bucks! Where there's smoke, there's usually fire.

This is sort of like the FDA finally admitting that there is sorta kinda maybe perhaps some CONCERN about mercury in dental fillings after they just lost a law suit where it was determined that mercury in fillings is POISON!
