By the way.... I want to brag for a second because I was one of the first people to introduce Amit to RPF. :P Good luck to him!

Jeremy

Still ahead! 30 votes ahead now!!

unfortunately Vern is losing... but that is expected (incumbent...). I hope to see him in future elections if he does in fact lose =) so i won't worry too much, all of these guys (besides Murray) are running for the first time and have a long way to go if they don't at first succeed

I gotta admit, if the establish guy wins, it's no a gigantic deal. Jim Moran is a very entrenched incumbent, and Ellmore will get destroyed in November.

But that's getting ahead of myself. Go Amit!

How do you think the Arlington and Falls Church vote will come in? It appears as if Alexandria will be close whoever wins, and that Ellmore will probably win Fairfax County.

It seems like most of Amit's fundraisers and events took place in Arlington so I'm hoping he'll be stronger there.

1) They should run again
2) If Amit does lose, the bright side is that we can focus funds on Lawson's race

just looking at the good side of everything =)

Amit's going to have to show EXTREMELY well in Arlington in order to win. If not, here's to hoping Moran crushes the sh*t out of Ellmore in November.

Even if Amit loses this time around, it's still a very close race, which should send the establishment GOP a message that their time is short and the Constitutional GOP movement is here to stay. If Amit runs again in 2010, Ellmore or whomever decides to compete probably won't be as lucky.

RonPaulFanInGA

i dont know how any of our candidates (or anyone) can beat incumbent democrats in 2008... so ya, it's not TOO bad. and im sure Ellmore will be destroyed very easily.

The bright side of some of the candidates losing primaries is that we can focus on just a few races... like Lawson

He should do extremely well in Arlington...but it is smaller than Fairfax County. Close race though, for just jumping in 2 months ago, while Ellmore has been campaigning for 2 years...

Not too bad!!!

Very true. Plus, the fact that Amit is doing as good as he is against someone who has been running 5x longer than him shows that he'll be able to win next time around when he has more time to run.

I'm feeling pretty bad for Vern, his family, and his hard work.

I know the campaign has been very trying for him and his family so I will drink a toast to liberty in honor of his effort to unseat one of the most beloved big government Congressman in Virginia.

Thank You Vern.

I admire the optimism of this thread. If we win, that's great. If we lose, that's also great, because now we're more knowledgeable, wiser, and more experienced and our chances of winning next time become better because of this. :)

The bright side of some of the candidates losing primaries is that we can focus on just a few races... like Lawson

I see...perhaps we're dividing and conquering ourselves?

I suggest supporting Richard Matthew's race in Maryland, but that's just me.

One other thing to point out. Amit is very young. He has a lot of time to establish himself in the district and make another run in a few more years. I have no doubt that he will one day, even if that day isn't today, win.

dw1345
06-10-2008, 05:52 PM
Well, most of Arlington just reported in and Amit won there. The bad news is he barely won and the turnout was pathetic.

malkusm
06-10-2008, 05:52 PM
IT JUST GOT CLOSER!!!!!!!!

Amit down by only 110 votes, 52% to 48%!!!

54% of precincts reporting!!!

malkusm
06-10-2008, 05:53 PM

But I'm holding out hope, this is an incredibly close race right now.

incumbents.... who needs them

Holy smokes, it just got closer. He's only losing by about 64 votes as i type. 49% to 51%

It seemsthat the Arlington numbers changed, but it still says 50 of 51 precincts reporting. What happened?

malkusm
06-10-2008, 06:00 PM
Another Falls Church precinct just reported....Amit made up 46 votes, so he's now within 64. Almost a dead heat, 51% to 49%.....

Jeremy
06-10-2008, 06:01 PM
If Amit loses, his supporters are probably going to feel awful... I mean it's so close, you could probably get that many votes just by walking around the towns... but who knew =O

malkusm
06-10-2008, 06:02 PM
This would be a huge victory, for a candidate with no experience to run a 2 month campaign and win.

I'm very interested to see how Lawson does, and Singh if he wins this - both against incumbent Dems in November. We've always said that RP Republicans are the only ones who could beat a Dem in this election cycle, right? ;)

I have to believe Ellmore doesn't have a 65/35 stranglehold on Fairfax. It's too far out of line with the rest of the district.

Or at least, that's what I'm going to keep telling myself ;)

Anyone up there in NOVA that can tell us, is this being covered on the news at all?

dw1345

dw1345
06-10-2008, 06:12 PM

anyway, we need to focus on the Lawson campaign now that less people are running

wait another 2 years to support these other guys again

Lawson needs our support now, and trust me, he is very dedicated to this. i knew murray and vern wouldnt win. i wasnt sure about amit.
