Eisenhower's hero, Gen. Smedley Darlington Butler was approached to help overthrow FDR White House and install Fascist dictator to run things.

Then, as now, the press played a major role in suppressing the story and no one was ever prosecuted.

I never heard of General Butler in all my school years. I only discovered him last year when I learned Eisenhower, who warned us against the military-industrial complex, greatly admired and revered Butler so much that he considered Butler his hero.

Great online read with striking similarities to events that even today concern us.

"A key event in the History of Corporate Crime." This first paragraph is very telling of how information can be suppressed and powerful people protected.

War Is A Racket
A speech delivered in 1933, by Major General Smedley Butler, USMC.

Major General Smedley Butler, USMC.
He joined the Marine Corps when the Spanish American War broke out, earned the Brevette Medal during the Boxer Rebellion in China, saw action in Central America, and in France during World War I was promoted to Major General. Smedley Butler served his country for 34 years, yet he spoke against American armed intervention into the affairs of sovereign nations.

Replacing FDR with another Fascist dictator wouldn't really have been too much of a change.

Yeah! Such a shame he was not a very good guy. I do not approve of him at all, yet the Plot to murder him was still wrong.

It was sort of Socialist vs. Fascists --as usual the better or worse of two evils. :D

I can never forgive him for Pearl Harbor.

My main point was just to bring a little history in about a decent General who may not have started out to be, but became a good person along the way and not because of his two Medals of Honor. Rather because he could not abide fascisim after having seen so much of it during his career.

FDR outlawed gold possession, destroyed crops while people died of starvation, and implemented a tax on labor,he also sent tens, possibly hundreds of thousands of Russian pow's to their death when they seeked asylum

At worst, they were looking to replace one fascist with another fascist.

Bustler & Dan Davis were marine corps hero's that kicked Chinese Butt during the boxer rebellion. These guys were considered the most famous war hero's in the marine corps history. You know whats real funny is the true criminals were never tried and got away scott free just like in the Iran Contra hearings.

sheltering those guys from Stalin could very well have led to a war with the USSR, costing millions more lives.

And what message would that send to the Russian people, who gave more than anyone else to defeat the Germans?

"Hey, thanks for the help, but we're gonna give the people who betrayed ur country and helped butcher your people asylum now, becuz America turns on its friends."
