This thread is for reflection, reminder, and education. Most of us might know the majority of the points that can be made on this subject, but that is not the point. I have learned much since finding Ron Paul's educational campaign; I have been driven to read "libertarian-esque" books and articles.
Thing is, when debating with others, my memory is not sharp enough to recall every enlightening point I have read. I think one of the best ways to convert people, is to first shake their conception of the need for (big) government, and get them to question the premises they and others assume.
So it is my intention with this thread to make a list of government hypocrisies, contradictions, etc. Any issue foreign or domestic can be touched on, and you can point out fallacies that a certain political party or individual politician maintain as well (for ex. Juan McCain’s stance on border security). Please make each point as short and concise as possible. Yes I realize this is a rather broad topic, but think of it as an opportunity to vent… If you disagree with a point someone makes or simply want to see them elaborate, you can challenge them to explain it further.
I'll start out with the basics,
-Governments commit mass murder and call it "war".
-Governments engage in organized theft and call it "taxation".
-Governments engage in slavery/involuntary servitude and call it "conscription".
-The US government holds a foreign policy of imperialistic aggression and calls it "policing, peace-making, and the spread of democracy".
-Governments create laws to try and force people to help/protect their neighbors and fellow citizens, but take away their ability to do so via gun control.
