Sick. If they do it in my state, they SHOULD be prosecuted under the "causing mental harm to a child." (A Felony, with prison sentence of up to 20 years per victim).

Agreed. I think they should be prosecuted there. I find it hard to believe there aren't some parents of children who go to that school who are pissed off over this.

This reminds me of a situation about a year ago where some teachers faked a school shooting. What is wrong with these people...

I really don't see what the big deal is... coming from a highschool where 1 student was bludgeoned to death by her own mother (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,146702,00.html), 1 overdosed on pain killers and fell splitting her skull open, and one was racing and fell off a bridge onto another car and was burned to death (http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/2008/04/two_linden_teens_killed_in_fir.html)...

You need to do what you need to do. Sure, it was a false claim but these kids need to realize that this happens everyday around our Country. The next one can be them - kids need to learn to be responsible, and if this is what it takes than so be it.

They show you birthing videos to scare you into not getting pregnant. They show you STD videos so you won't have unprotected sex. They show you anti-drug films so you won't do drugs. And the films obviously don't work. So why not take it to the next level?

These kids have no respect for other people, and thats why they get into a car drunk or drive drunk. I'm tired of seeing good people die because they were hit by drunk students who thought they're invincible. They need to be brought back to reality, and if this does that, then good.

I have no problem with students drinking and NOT driving, that is their choice. I have a problem with people that drink and then drive, putting OTHERS at risk.

Yeah, "brainwashing" people into not wanting to drive drunk is just awful...

They just lost all credibility with their students...we should view it as a plus since it will make the student less likely to trust the system. Lemons to lemonade. Really dumb way to teach the lesson though because it has limited effectiveness. And those who drink and drive will be a very marginal number rattled by the stunt once they realize it for being just that, a stunt for attention.

I can't drive drunk and drive in Grand Theft Auto IV...but its alright to fake someones death.

Disgusting people are heading up that organization. I hope their members are disgusted too.

Yes, I am with you Adolf, next time let's booze up a couple of students and push them off an overpass and let them burn up. Then they can be a great example that will really teach the kids right from wrong.

Oh please. Some of y'all will get worked up over anything involving a police officer.

"Every 15 minutes" is a pretty common occurence in high schools these days, and for a good reason. If nothing else, it conveys a small portion of the gravity of the situation to students.

Find something useful to twist your panties over.

Hmm...so while there are crimes that could be stopped or being investigated in the real world, police officers are shilling for MADD while on duty now? I wonder how much MADD donated to the San Diego PD to pull this crap off for "realism". Besides, they'll be lucky if one kid makes the decision not to drink and drive forever based on this. What's next? Telling kids in school that their parents were just killed in a drunk driving accident for the "effect"?

What went down at this school wasn't the typical "Every 15 Minutes" stunt. At most schools they have a guy dressed up like the Reaper come in and escort a "dead" kid out of class, but all the kids are aware it's a stunt.

In this case, they made the kids THINK THEIR FRIENDS HAD REALLY DIED. A cop went into each room and told them that a kid from their class, who had already been pre-selected and wasn't in the room, wasn't there because they had been killed in a drunk driving accident. They went from classroom to classroom and did this. Only later did the kids find out it was all a hoax and their friends weren't really dead.

Now, if you don't think that's fucked up I don't know what to tell you. Imagine you were in that class room and a cop came in and told you that your BEST FRIEND who sat beside you was dead and that's why he/she wasn't there.

What would have happened had one of the kids asked to go to the bathroom and had done something to hurt themselves while there over losing their friend? What if one of the kids got so traumatized over it they got physically ill? What if, God forbid, one of the kids was really killed on the way home from school that day?

Well, I hope the sadists running the program are enjoying all the pain they are causing. Not just everyone is allowed to cause high schoolers massive grief for a living, so these sadistic individuals have definitely gotten lucky.

As long as we're causing unnecessary trauma in the name of the greater social good (even though we aren't the least bit sure the 'greater social good' will benefit) why not preemptive lobotomies?
