Giuliani is basically unable to win the Republican nomination unless there's another terrorist event.
A twice-divorced mayor who's pro-legalization of abortion (a more neutral term than pro-choice) and who is pro-federal funding of abortion can't win. In Iowa. Or New Hamphsire. Or South Carolina. Or Nevada. Or the entire Midwest. Or the entire South.
And Giuliani is heavily pro gun-control. He polls well now because the overwhelming # of Republicans don't know his stance. I'll wager $100 even odds Giuliani doesn't secure the nomination. Are you willing to put your money where your mouth is?
Just wait until the attacks come from Romney, Thompson, and Paul (actually they already came from Paul, not that enough people noticed other than true conservatives). And recently Mitt "Chuck Woolery" Romney attacked Giuliani on his stance on heavy gun-control.
And some friends of mine mentioned the fact that Giuliani is Catholic and Italian as additional hurdles (I'm not so sure about those two though).
This election, more than most, is a battle of ideas for the party...will we accept a neocon socialist-lite candidate or will we return to the party's Goldwater-R.Taft roots of truly lower taxes and less regulation, limited federal government, pro-constituionalism, and a policy of no-nation-building? Its a battle for the future of our party and our country at hand, and that is why I support Dr. Ron Paul.
