I have a Tracfone which I constantly shovel money into to keep activated even though I only use it for one or two minutes every couple of months. I came across a plan that Tracfone is now offering called "Lifeline value plan" which only cost $4.95 a month if you actually use your phone. I thought that this sounded like a pretty good deal.....The Tracfone website says "This plan is perfect if you:
1) Ever forget to add air-time before reaching your service end date. 2.)Have plenty of minutes but don’t use your TracFone often. 3) Only use your TracFone occasionally or when traveling."

I noticed that tracfone uses the term "enrollment" on the signup form. I also found through searching that the Lifeline plan is a government subsidized program for low income consumers! Tracfone makes no mention of this on their website.

I just wonder where all of this is going to end. We have trillions of dollars of National Debt and it seems like we have more and more entitlements (correct term?) that drag us down. It appears that a lot of people will be using this service and never know that it's subsidized by our government.

If you use this service I'm not judging you. I'm just saying that I won't be using it.

The constitution clearly states that all Americans are entitled to taxpayer-subsidized cell phones if they cannot afford one (saving themselves valuable FRN's to spend on cigarettes and beer)
