Press Release

Oxford Educated Community Leader, Former Prosecutor Robert Owens formally announces he will run for Ohio Attorney General as an Independent, says he will restore the rule of law over political favoritism

COLUMBUS, OHIO – Delaware County lawyer Robert Owens announced today that he will seek the office of Ohio Attorney General vacated by Democrat Marc Dann. There will be a special election for the office held November 4. Democrat Marc Dann resigned from office in disgrace on May 14 following revelations of a sex and money scandal. The little known Democrat from Youngstown won the office in 2006 as a result of the Republican’s hugely embarrassing “Coingate” scandal that cost Ohio millions of taxpayer dollars and resulted in criminal charges, though not nearly enough jail time for those involved.

Upon filing the necessary petitions to qualify for ballot access, Mr. Owens released the following statement; “There is an inherent conflict between the law and party politics. The Attorney General is the highest law enforcement official in Ohio and has a duty to protect the State and her citizens by upholding the law. That duty is challenged when influenced by the corrupting nature of partisan politics. Corruption is the natural consequence of this conflict. As an independent candidate for Attorney General I will not be bound to powerful special interests or promises of votes that will affect my enforcement of the law. When I say I want to bring integrity to the office, I truly believe the best way to accomplish this is by an independent administrator.”

Mr. Owens was educated at Ohio Wesleyan University, Oxford University (United Kingdom) and Capital University Law School. In his legal career, he clerked for a Federal District Court Judge, worked for one of the largest law firms in Ohio, served as Prosecutor for Sunbury Ohio and now has a private law practice handling criminal and civil matters. Mr. Owens is a long time community leader and activist for pro-American legislation at the Federal, State and Local level. Mr. Owens and his wife Teri have been married for 10 years.

Ohio law makes an independent run for office extremely difficult, nearly impossible. The Owens 2008 campaign is possible because of the more than 1500 grassroots supporters of the Ron Paul “Revolution” throughout the state of Ohio. This community helped make political fundraising history during the Presidential primary season and will be harnessed to make sure that the citizens of Ohio know there is a choice other than the political cronies picked by party bosses later this year.

For more information or to schedule an interview, please call Owens 2008 Campaign HQ at (614) 839-8544 or e-mail info@owens2008.com. A formal press conference will be set within the next week to officially announce the campaign.

Dear friend of freedom,

It's time for a change...

After the revelations about the latest corruption in the office of Ohio Attorney General, my friend Robert Owens has made a tremendous personal sacrifice and decided to run for the office. Like many of us, Robert is tired of seeing the disgraceful condition of our government. As a long time political activist, Robert sees this as a golden opportunity to try to do something about it. But he needs our help to make it happen.

It's your tax dollars...why not do something with them?
What is it worth to get one of our own, a liberty-minded, independent candidate of integrity, into the office of Attorney General? What if I told you that the State of Ohio would reimburse you for your investment in liberty? Yes, it's true. (http://codes.ohio.gov/orc/5747.29) The first $50 per individual ($100 per couple) that you give to the campaign is free! That's right. You will receive a dollar for dollar tax credit on your Ohio income tax.

The Challenge: $10,000 in 10 Days...
We need your help to hit our goal by June 10th. We want to send a message to the two establishment parties that "the party" is, in fact, over. Ohio is ready for a true Independent candidate. Sending the message is easy. First: decide to designate $50 (https://secure.donortownsquare.com/SSL/donate.aspx?sgst=-1&amt=0&ai=709&qs=M8KBX) of your state tax dollars to the Owens campaign. Second: decide to match or exceed that donation (https://secure.donortownsquare.com/SSL/donate.aspx?sgst=-1&amt=0&ai=709&qs=M8KBX) with something out of your own pocket. The third step: sign up for an automated, monthly contribution (https://secure.donortownsquare.com/SSL/donate.aspx?sgst=-1&amt=0&ai=709&qs=M8KBX) between now and November 4th.

A candidate who walks the walk...
As the organizer of the Columbus Ron Paul Meetup, I worked closely with Robert during the Ron Paul campaign. But even before that, Robert had an impressive history of working with Ohio legislators to steer our nation back to the Constitution. Robert was a key individual responsible for getting Congressman Tiberi to co-sponsor HR 1146: The American Sovereignty Restoration Act in the 109th Congress. He also worked successfully with Ohio House Majority leader Larry Flowers to get HCR 31 introduced, a significant piece of Anti-North American Union legislation.

Integrity, Transparency and the Rule of Law...
I personally know Robert Owen's motivations for running are not that of the usual career politician. His interest is in seeing a return to the ideals of freedom and limited government in our country. A return to the rule of law and our constitution rather than the rule of politicians. A return to ethics and responsibility in government.

We the people...
The beginning of our campaign is arguably the most important part. We need to get off to a running start to be able to beat the big money career politicians. We plan to challenge corrupt big money politics by using our grassroots power. Already we have seen the power of that grassroots movement in our signature gathering campaign. Even though Ohio election laws are set up to make it hard for outsiders to challenge establishment politicians, in only 10 days nearly 100 volunteers from all over the state of Ohio were able to gather 1300 signatures from 44 different counties to get Robert on the ballot!

Now, we need to continue that grassroots momentum. We don't just need your financial assistance. We need you to sign up as a volunteer (http://www.owens2008.com/~owens/?page_id=14) to help the campaign. We need your help to spread the word in your local precinct about this incredible opportunity to say "Enough is enough" to the corruption and cronyism in Ohio politics.

We have only 5 months to change the course of things in Ohio. Will you join us in bringing Integrity through Independence to the office of Attorney General?

Why our crime rate is high ??

Even after having so many "Attorney Generals" , why is U.S crime rate still high ??" :(

Why cant they ban weapons in all U.S States. Several people have lost their lives in several shooting incidents.

All weapons are only used for attacking innocent victims. There hasnt been one single occasion where some good person shot dead somebody who was trying to rob him.

Do we need attorney generals, or simply people who can feel the nerve of normal people and ensure their progress and safety.
