Many people believe that if we attack Iran, China/Russia will honor their recent treaties/whatever with Iran and will attack the U.S.

The hypothesis, then, is that Bush will declare martial law and there won't be a November election at all, that Bush will remain in power as "supreme dictator" (my words).

Now, that's a bet I wouldn't necessarily take. I think they have HAD IT with us, and the Chinese know that there's no way we can EVER pay them what we owe them. Alternatively, our troops in Iraq are fried. And, they know how much Israel means to TPTB, so I imagine they'd make life in Israel a living hell.

Further, the price of oil would skyrocket, and the economy would tank big time. The store shelves would be empty in a matter of hours (we're trained Pavlovian-style to run to the grocery in case of any kind of emergency), because the trucks could no longer afford the gas to deliver the goods. It would bring on a double-time economic implosion. Either way, the implosion is coming, maybe slowly, maybe double-time.

We are SO screwed!

There were plans made last fall by the department of defense to take out all of Iran's military targets in a 3 day airstrike. As much as I'm sure we're going into Iran, I really hope we don't, this is serious business and another unjust war we simply cannot afford any way you look at it.

Nonetheless, stock up on silver gold and oil and short the dollar, absolute zero is just a few bombs away.

Oh please. Russia and China will not attack the United States, even if we attack Iran and invade them. But there will be serious repercussions, in the very least both nations will use it as an opportunity to further discredit the United States and rise in influence themselves. It hands them a perfect opportunity to, just like the Iraq War handed Iran a perfect opportunity.

At most, Russia might take the opportunity to take action against Georgia, knowing full well we would not have the conventional forces to aid Georgia (assuming we invade Iran, which seems to be outside the realm of this report.) And at most for China, and this is quite a stretch, they would invade Taiwan... but this is such an incredibly improbable thing given the upcoming Olympics. Its much more likely that the nations will cash in on the political capital it will give them, rather than blow it on invasions or wars.

Certainly a war with Iran is a bad idea, but lets not get into panic mode about a world war... which basically has no chance of happening.
