How much are we spending to search for new life on Mars when we haven't really learned to care for the life here on earth?

Somewhere around $450million. Pennies compared to what we spend blowing each other to hell. In my opinion, space exploration is worth every penny if it helps find concrete evidence of life outside of our planet, and someday I'm sure it will help us colonize the moon and probably to a certain extent Mars.

Make sure we save at least one Ron Paul yard sign to take up to Mars.

How about a special sign that says "Ron Paul and his Revolution welcome you to the Red Planet!"

How about: "Only 149,598,000 KM to Wall Drug."

Space travel beyond orbit is nearly worthless. Don't even talk about the so-called spillover benefits. All of those can also be achieved in near Earth orbit.

Still I can somewhat be fascinated with the Mars missions. The Messenger mission to Mercury is far worse. It's far more expensive to travel there. It's hot enough to melt lead. I really don't care to spend billions to find out if there are a few ice cubes in the shadowed craters (because Mercury has little atmosphere, temperature instantly drops to hundreds below zero in shadow.) It has no value to us. It's a hunk of gravel. It's essentially the Moon without the potentially valuable Helium 3.

I like it!

Someday someone will start talking about the New Universe Order

A NASA Ron Paul supporter should have had it plant a REVOLUTION sign on the ice cap.

Do they have room in the budget for a R3volUTION sign?

NASA has gone from the practical routine of putting the space shuttle into orbit to cheering wildly every time they successfully land a tonka toy on mars.
