Paul adheres to Constitution

Carl R. Hennies • Sioux Falls • May 27, 2008

America has strayed far from the nation that our Founding Fathers envisioned. Thomas Jefferson called for "peace, commerce and honest friendship with all nations, entangling alliances with none." However, we continue to station troops in 130 countries around the world and are in the middle of an unconstitutional war, the long-term cost of which some experts put at more than $2 trillion.

We also are spiraling into uncontrollable debt, which already exceeds $9 trillion. That is not even counting future entitlements such as Social Security.

Freedom for Americans means being free to spend their money as they wish rather than having the government control a significant portion of their paychecks. We need to reduce our overseas empire and entitlement spending at home so we can begin to live within our means.

Ron Paul is an advocate for limited government, low taxes, free markets and personal liberty. Considering his adherence to the Constitution and freedom, if the Founding Fathers were around today, there is no doubt they would endorse Paul for president. I encourage you to vote for him in the Republican primary June 3.
