Still taking donations through tomorrow. Please help us meet our goal (http://alcpac.chipin.com/high-tide-s-dakota-2) - we're almost there!!

We have to figure out the schedule fast so we can get the ad on the air starting Friday. They usually need the tape and check minimum 2 days before, so time it tight. South Dakota votes June 3rd.

Here are all the rates and coverage maps (http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showpost.php?p=1470133&postcount=41). FOX-KTTW looks like the best option, with maybe some spots on ABC-KSFY "Good Morning America".

Please jump in here and give some input. We should have $4,000 to spend.

Please consider e-mailing your contact list again. I realize you don't like to do this often, but this will be the last time you'll contact them for Months probably, as this is the last Primary. Plus it's been about a week since your last e-mail.

I think they'd appreciate knowing that you're still doing something. They just need to know there's a need.

I've e-mailed all the SD contacts I have numerous times. I just e-mailed them all again when I found out the Chip-in was changed.

The more money we get the better. If we get more then $4,000, that that many more ads we can run.

Also, you should probably start your own thread about the Schedual. We had lots of donations to Idaho Spike after you started schedualling it (I know, I was one of them.)

Tracy

PS Didn't you get some other donations on the High Tide 2 chip-in after the Idaho Deadline when I 1st started promoting this before you made the SD Chipin? TS

Just sent out another email to the PAC list.

Yes there was a little bit which will cover the Paypal fees. There should be some left over too, which will be added to the SD buy :)

Awesome.

Perhaps, we could extend the chip-in and keep it going, so perhaps you could increase buys Monday and Tuesday? Or do we have to buy all 5 days at once.

Only $500 to go.

Lets try to make this before morning (er, you know what I mean.)

Are there 5 people out there who would like to spend $100 each to try and spread Ron Paul's message to South Dakota?

or 10 at $50 each?

Or 20 at $25 each?

We can do this -- or MORE.

We can saturate all 500,000 voters in South Dakota with this message.

I think 50%/50% ABC/FOX is good too.

Don't they both reach about 500,000 residents in South Dakota?

Tracy

ABC reaches 250,000 households. I believe FOX is less but I'm waiting for the exact numbers.

I was gonna put $2,000 to FOX and $2,400 to ABC (more than we currently have but am hopeful we'll get it).

I am overnighting tapes and checks Wednesday so they have them Thursday to start airing Friday. We can add to our initial total if it comes in by Wednesday morning. If more comes in after Wednesday I can always overnight another check to get more runs during the time remaining before Tuesday, but it would have to be worth the overnight cost.

Edit: Hold the presses. Just found out there's another FOX (KEVN) that broadcasts out of Rapid City that covers the entire western end of the state. Might scrap ABC and do both FOX's which would give us close to state-wide coverage. I calling them right now for a rate card.

Just FYI, 250k households is almost statewide coverage. It's about 620k people, which is 80% of the population, and since SD has a lot of farms, it's possible that some of those 20% don't have TV's.

AdamT

Just found out FOX-KTTW's reach is 254,000 households, which encompasses eastern and central. The other FOX-KEVN covers western and central. Between the two of them we'll be reaching the entire state.

So, 313k households?

Btw... I think more people in SD watch ABC... I'm just guessing that from the price. So, you may still want to do both, but it's your call. If we do REALLY well in Idaho maybe people will money bomb this.

Haven't gotten the numbers for KEVN yet. It would be nice to do both FOX's + ABC.

I think it would be good to do ABC too though.

Perhaps $2,000 for ABC and split the 2,400 between the 2 FOX affiliates.

Does one of the Fox affiliates reach up into Aberdeen and Mobridge?

Here are the rates for FOX-KEVN (http://alcpac.com/docs/FOX_KEVNRateCard.pdf), which covers the west of SD. Trying to get a coverage map. They broadcast out of Rapid City and reach 94,000 households in western SD.

hmm... that's weird. It's as expensive as the 250k one. Maybe more people watch FOX in the west.

Actually it's a lot less, sometimes as much as half. Use the column 4 prices.

Do is anger anyone around here that HQ is probably not doing this kind of thing right now when even $25,000 would get alot of ads on air the week before the vote.

AdamT

This is what I worked out for a possible spending breakdown.

ABC-KSFY 250,000 households (east)
FOX-KTTW 254,000 households (east)
FOX-KEVN 94,000 households (west)

Total 598,000 households (note KSFY & KTTW will be overlapping roughly the same area).

ABC-KSFY $1850
FOX-KTTW $1850
FOX-KEVN $1000
---------------------
Total $4700

Maybe back off on some of the KTTW and bump up the KEVN. Remember KTTW will also be overlapping with ABC.

Perhaps even the money up $1,425 each for the 2 foxes.

If you add up the first SD chip in, the 2nd SD chip in, and the leftovers from the original high tide it puts funds for SD at: 4,749! Good job people!

The second SD ChipIn (http://alcpac.chipin.com/high-tide-s-dakota-2) is still open for more until tomorrow. Having another few hundred would be helpful since we're buying on 3 different networks.

If it doesn't cancle it early again.

You should push it out another day to prevent that.

Here's the schedule for ABC-KSFY (http://alcpac.com/docs/ABC_KSFYschedule.jpg).

We'll have 19 spots on FOX-KTTW. Will post schedule when I get it.

Waiting on FOX-KEVN schedule as well.

Very expensive, but will reach a lot of people in the state. We'll also be on all cable and satellite (DishNetwork, DirectTV) in the state, as they carry the local broadcast channels. An added bonus for going broadcast :)

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Ron Paul supporters launch grassroots TV ad campaign in South Dakota

May 29, 2008

The American Liberty Coalition will start airing a 60 second Ron Paul TV spot, entitled "The High Tide", which will air on FOX-KTTW & ABC-KSFY in eastern South Dakota, and on FOX-KEVN in western South Dakota. The ad run starts Friday, May 30th and ends June 3rd, the day of the SD primary. The spots can also be viewed on South Dakota cable channels and satellite networks that carry these local broadcast stations. The funding for the airtime was donated by over 80 Ron Paul supporters, from not just South Dakota, but many of the states in the Union.

The spot features a computer-generated Ron Paul amid a whirlwind of motion graphics, where the maverick Republican candidate for President touches upon issues of foreign & monetary policy, the Constitution, and spreading his message of peaceful rEVOLution beyond just the upcoming elections.

Collaborating over a period of three months, the spot was created by a small group of dedicated grassroots artists in New York, Wisconsin, New Jersey, and Canada. The spot features an original orchestral score written by Marc Scibilia.

This will be the third state in which The High Tide has aired, the first being Pennsylvania where Ron Paul garnered over 16% of the Republican vote, the second being Idaho where Ron Paul won 24% of the vote (and up to 40% in the northern counties), pushing his nation-wide total to well over 1 million votes. Even though John McCain may have won the Republican nomination, Ron Paul remains in the race giving voters a true conservative option at the polls.
