I'm not even looking at the prices. Look at how much GAS we use. jesus. We need to do something in order to make alternative energy more attractive to the economy, we are TOO dependent on oil. The shit won't last forever, we need to really do something about this.

I like how only 50% of what you are paying is actually the cost of the gasoline, wanna lower the gas prices? Stop taxing us. Give us a permanent gas tax holiday.

Are we entitled to cheap gas? We consume way more than we produce so we are subject to the influence of others and do not control the market beyond our own demand. We do not have enough resources to impact the world supply so reducing demand is the only way we can reduce what we spend on gas and oil. What should the price of gas be? We consume the most and do the least to encourage reducing use because we pay some of the lowest prices for our gas. Ask a European if think our gas prices are high. They will laugh at you.

Government doesn't tax gas because it will reduce our dependence on oil, they specifically tax it because they know it will be steady stream of revenue.
