Late Thursday evening, on July 26, 2007, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Hunter-Kaptur amendment to the Transportation Appropriations Bill (HR 3074) by an overwhelming margin, 362-63. The amendment was introduced by Congressman Duncan Hunter (R-CA) and Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (D-OH). In a total repudiation of NAFTA, our failed trade policies, and the Bush Administration's unilateral and aggressive fast tracking of the NAFTA Superhighways, the House successfully moved to de-fund them. Great News: Dirk Davidek, assistant San Antonio RP meetup, had the place smothered in Dr. Paul materials, bumper stickers, yard signs, slim jims, and RP cards were available to all, as much as you could carry away! He & I are going to work together to put-up RP signage around SA.
News We Need To Work On: Dr. Paul is not well known to the day-to-day members of this group. You would hear, "Ron Paul who?" Followed by, "Your kidding, a Republican?" Terri Hall gave a great speech explaining how Dr. Paul's actions on a national level mirrored their actions at the local level--and how we go together like hand in glove. I talked with the two members of the press and handed a Dr. Paul dvd to each that I had made for the IA Straw Poll. I am also working with the finance committee and will start spreading his message while helping to stop Bilderbergers/CFR directed projects in my backyard.
This group is amazing, no resources yet they are fighting legal battles like rabid junkyard dogs! They have had great successes already and more really good ones in the pipeline—think white-hat wearing Travis County DA Ronnie Earl, who successfully prosecuted the ‘hammer’, going after some TxDot topfeeders. These tollways are such a non-rule-of-law, misdirected public resources, land-grab, bureaucratic boondoggle, and a definite CFR directed prototype for America.
We talked about a billboard along IH-35, traffic count indicates that 60,000 people a day would see it and out of that 60,000: 12,000 would be national long haul truckers. To put it up until the election would require approximately (132) $2000 sponsors—100’ mono-pole, two panel, lighted bulletin size. There is an alternative plan as well, take a lesson from the rEVOLution, organize affected farmer/ranchers to create and place signage along the NAFTA superhighway routes.
Lastly, planning a Texas wide TURF fund raiser in Austin at the Texas History Museum on October 5; Terri Hall is trying to arrange Dr. Paul to speak. They will be screening the sequel to ‘Truth Be Tolled’ at this event. Tonight, I was sitting next to William Molina the creator—he told me, that this sequel will be sufficient [exposing CFR/Federal/State corruption]. :cool:
