I am going to overnight the application to the parks service along with the $50 application fee TODAY. We need to get event insurance. TMG is making phone calls but it looks like it's going to be around $1000 and we need to raise it very quickly (by the end of the weekend at the LATEST. They say we can have the grounds all day on that date but we need event insurance!
More costs will come later with setting up a stage and getting better electrical, etc... but that comes after. RIGHT NOW we need to raise this money.

We are going to use my Paypal address to collect the funds. Please donate if you can.
My paypal email is interleave1@earthlink.net

Thanks,
Bob

Ok - ongoing total:

$1112.78 - 29 donations!

I thought someone said they'd consider bumping the small thing on the 11th so we could have the 10th?

My group of 14 travelling companions won't be flying into Philly until late on the 10th. We were going to stay over and be there for the 11th. Disappointing. :(

It was a veterans group for Veterans Day. They got there first, and while a smaller crowd, the veterans deserve their rally. The assistant thought it MIGHT be able to be moved some where else in the Mall, but when the Special Events coordinator got back in town he nixed that idea. Can your group fly in Friday night? Flights can be changed - especially this far in advance.

Ah. I missed the update. The veterans do deserve their rally, it's just a shame ours can't be the same day.

We're coming off a cruise.. doesn't get back to Miami until late morning-mid afternoon on the 10th. A few hours in customs, and we're already into the evening hours. :(

I'm bumpin this up so all can see. This is going great! This will be a super event, so please donate. A lot of people read this forum and a simple $25 goes a long way if enough contribute. I already gave $50 for the insurance and $50 for the application, as well as all sorts of past donations to other events and the RP campaign - and I'm certainly not very well off. Please help. A lot of small donations will go a long way towards having a huge and historic grassroots rally in the cradle of liberty.

As an aside, the Greater Philly Meetup, which has one of the larger memberships, is having a meeting tonight which I will attend to spread the good word. Will brainstorm with them, but they will be used for pre-event feet on the street marketing. While, if we can get the money, we may have print advertising in the media and we certainly will have press releases to the media for free exposure, they can plaster the town before the event with flyers/posters about it. They also have a college coordinator who is recruiting RP supporters form all the colleges. There are 70,000 students in a couple of colleges within 4 miles of this event. BThe Philly Meetup college coordinator is going to be marketing RP all over the colleges up until the election and recruiting other college students - starting now that school is back in session, and this will get an RP buzz on the campuses leading up to this event. We will look to have a blitz the week before this event marketing it the nearby colleges.

Plus, we have a radio commitment from Michael Smirconish (who already interviewed RP and loved him) the day before the event to talk it up. He has a big conervative listenership in Philly and I also have a RP supporter to develop a website to market the event so we can point people to the website and put it on flyers and marketing material.

Thanks for the donation! Great that you will be at the rally and bring your whole family to the rally!

As we get closer to the event, there will be things people can do to help who are in the Philly area (the Meetups in particlular but anyone who wants to help) in regards to plastering Philly with literature about the event right before it and helping get things set up the morning of the event.

Great job to the Greater Philly Meetup (my group) for taking the lead in the contest to have Ron Paul visit! We had a meeting which I attended last night and I spoke about Liberty Rally 2007 at Independence Mall in Philly on Sat. Nov. 10 at 1pm.

Right now, the Philly group is focused over the next week or so on winning the Ron Paul visit contest and having a marketing blitz which is best not posted on an open forum.

However, after this is done with, and as we get closer to the rally, there is a firm commitment from the Greater Philly Meetup group to help with marketing Liberty Rally 2007. There is also a state Meetup coordinator for Pennsylvania who I have been put in contact with who works to enhance communication between all PA Meetups and it is my goal to get all Meetups nationwide aware and involved - but especially Boston down to Virginia.

As I have said, there are 70,000 college students within 4 miles of the Liberty Rally and I met with the College Coordinator for the Philly Meetup who attends Drexel and another Meetup member who attends LaSalle. Though I am 20 years out of college, I am now a member of the Philly Ron Paul College Meetup group so we can all work on getting the word out as the rally approaches. The College Coordinator in the meantime will recruit students at colleges in Philly to spread the word and get a buzz going on Ron Paul.

Also, the Greater Philly Meetup has just put a sign making shop into operation. This will come in handy as they can do custom stuff for the rally. A good custom sign that is, say 4X8 generally goes on the open market for $30 or so. Their cost is $6. Philly Meetup people who help make them get them at cost. Otherwise, they will be sold at a slight markup (but still cheap) - and it is my understanding these will be offered to Meetups nationwide, but let me confirm that and if so I can get contact info.

Thanks everybody for your donations. We need some more for the insurance, and any overflow goes towards stage/lighting/sound/signs for the rally.

Also, I will look to be starting a website for the Liberty Rally in the next week or so to help promote it, provide media contacts, and to help with donations. Bob(Sematary) is doing a great job with lining up speakers.

Apparently the Ron Paul campaign is now well aware of this rally, and several supporters in Ron Paul's district in Texas will talk it up at their annual BBQ. We (Bob and I) have communication into the campaign and they are asking for more info on the rally which we are continually updating. No doubt the campaign will soon realize RP must attend. This will be by FAR the largest grassroots rally for ANY candidate and our goal, outside of having a really fun time and spreading the message of freedom, peace, liberty and prosperity - is to get bigtime national exposure as we head into the primaries.

There also are some really cool behind the scenes things going on the Bob and I are on that are best not publicized now, but this will be an AWESOME event.

Andy

Feel free to PM me or Bob (Sematary) with thoughts or ideas or ways to help, or post them right here.

You ROCK!

Awesome - looks like we might be funded for the insurance! Thanks so much! Please update on that Bob so we can be sure, and if so, disregard my request for more funds in the above post.

Bob and I will keep ongoing updates so everybody can be aware and get the buzz going on Liberty Rally 2007 - as well as offer help and suggestions.

Bob (Sematary) is running with lining up speakers, communicating with all sorts of people, and he is great with creative ideas. I'm working on a website for the rally and coordinating Meetups, as well as working with bizmannusa (Dan) who did the Pittsburgh rally on the sound/stage/lighting.

As we provide updates, everybody feel free to offer ideas, input and any resources you may have.

Let's not let this slip away without RP covering South Jersey. Please. Let's try to have him do something across the bridge, say Collingswood or Cherry Hill?

I'm not going to criticize them for donating to the official campaign, but considering that they will be getting a huge Ron Paul rally in November, don't the Philadelphia meetup people realize that it would be better for Ron Paul if they DIDN'T win the contest and Paul went to visit some OTHER part of the country? I mean two visits to the same city will mean one less visit to another place where he could garner support.

I called Independence Park this morning - they just got the paperwork (finally). I overnighted it last Thursday - so much for overnight with the Post office. Cost me $17 for something I could have sent priority for $4 and got the same service.

Andy hasn't gotten back to me with the final quote on the Insurance yet.

Mike Badnarik is comfirmed.
