Well seems like the growing ranks of elderly can add a new vaccine to their list of necessary treatments according to the cdc :

So big pharmaceuticals are now targeting the elderly with all the zest they have been using to flame the fears of parents. Look- its chicken pox again. Weigh your options, and let conscience be your guide. BTW this shot has a 50/50 rate of efficacy...

I'm recommending it to my mother, I've seen cases of people with shingles and it's horrible.

50/50 efficacy is far better than zero.

Sorry to hear that, like I said let your conscience guide you. Wonder if it is our aging society making this seem so prevalent or that we just happen to live longer? I don't know/haven't been exposed to anyone who suffered from this and would abstain on my personnal moral grounds but I have a ways till I reach this age. Just hope they don't start a pattern of mandating shots for the elderly now.
