If Paul wins or loses the faster the troops come home the better. I don't think this will help but Warner is very respected and could shift some opinions

I mean it's good and everything, but John Warner was a proponent of the war from the start and has signed all the anti-freedom bills since 9-11. Why the sudden conversion to the light? How does he plan to make up for all the damage, plundering, destruction, and chaos he's caused?

The reformed prostitute.

Guess I should be glad for each new convert but I'm still mad as hell they had their heads up their asses for the past 6 years.

Unfortunately, this is true. All these men in power understand that the Constitutional message Ron Paul represents is absolutely definite. They know very well what the meanings of these documents and the intents of the founders were then and how they apply to us now. They are aware. What we need now is for the Republican party to repent. Just as the harlot is saved so is every other sinner. The Republican party has lost millions of members and is growing smaller each day. It is the responsibility of these men to look damn hard at themselves and what they know is right versus what they do each day. It is time for them to apologize to their fellow Americans and do the right thing. There is a lot more to forgive for in an apology than in a continued lie.

If our movement continues down this path they will be forced to choose the side of corruption or freedom. And they know they will be accountable for this decision should it come to bear. The question is which ones of these men will fall again into tempation in hopes that we will again be subverted by the tiny boxes that have managed to appear in all of our homes. Perhaps, if they are lucky, the new tiny boxes we interact with each other on can be controlled and once again information will be distributed by a select few. Perhaps, if we are lucky, they will stand up for what is right for once, shrug off their masters, and follow the will of the People.

No man can serve two masters.

I only hope they make the right decision when the time comes. Because oh it's a commin ...

i also get the impression he doesn't really want the war to end.. he says withdraw just 2% of the troops.. i think it's just a war strategy, he's not really calling for a full withdrawal.. and he also keeps backpeddling saying "these are just suggestions, the decision is up to the president..." blah blah.. my opinion: he's spineless.

IRAQ: US Senator John Warner (R-VA) on Thursday called on President Bush to begin the withdrawal of US troops from Iraq next month. Warner said the drastic move is needed to give Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri Al-Maliki a wake-up call that the US role in Iraq will not be permanent. "I really, firmly believe the Iraqi government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Al-Maliki, let our troops down," said Warner. Al-Maliki announced this week that he feels no obligation to meet -- nor even to try to meet -- US-set benchmarks for Iraq. A spokesman for President Bush said the White House "appreciated" Warner's suggestion but said the President wanted to wait until the White House progress report on Iraq is written and issued on behalf of General Petraeus next month before making any new plans. Further, the spokesman said the President was not inclined to set any formal withdrawal dates. Warner is the former Armed Services Committee Chair, a World War II and Korean War veteran, and served as US Navy Secretary in the early 1970s.

Finally, a Reasoned Debate
By Charles Krauthammer
WASHINGTON -- After months of surreality, the Iraq debate has quite abruptly acquired a relationship to reality. Following the Democratic victory last November, panicked Republican senators began rifling the thesaurus to find exactly the right phrase to express exactly the right nuance to establish exactly the right distance from the president's Iraq policy, while Murtha Democrats searched for exactly the right legislative ruse to force a retreat from Iraq without appearing to do so.

In the last month, however, as a consensus has emerged about realities on the ground in Iraq, a reasoned debate has begun. A number of fair-minded observers, both critics and supporters of the war, agree that the surge has yielded considerable military progress, while at the national political level the Maliki government remains a disaster.

Yikes - another scary-looking old politician. How come Ron Paul is nice and friendly-looking.

That's how we can judge integrity -- if they look friendly, they're honest; if they look mean, they're liars.

And was once married to Elizabeth Taylor.

This story was probably in every newspaper today. This is the type of article that needs a Letter to the Editor supporting Warner and RP's positions. Do It Now!

John Warner is full of shite! He's fecking 80 and should be in some old farts home. He doesn't want to end this war. Its a big ruse, just like the town hall meeting they held in Va. Anyone see it on c-span? By the time two military guys bullshit about the war and Sen. or Cong. Davis who was sweating like a stuck pig....they conclude the one hour meeting and many were outraged. They never got to ask questions that were important.

Just another swamp party to appease the public.

John Warner is a good man and loved in VA

Even the notion that Warner is starting to think we need to get out is very powerful. He has a ton of respect and power in the senate
