The Ron Paul Machine Continues On...

Julio Almanza
May 16, 2008

Today I finished reading the Revolution: A Manifesto written by Ron Paul, the presidential candidate for the Republican Party. I have to say, never in my young life have I ever read such a clear cut, concise, book about (in his own words) what the role of government really ought to be, sound monetary policy, and an noninterventionist foreign policy. No academic gibberish using big, vocabulary words that can numb the common manīs brain like most other books written by other Congressmen, Senators, and ex-presidents. This book is a simple read and I recommend everyone, regardless if you are a liberal, a conservative, a democrat, or a republican, to pick up this book for its essence of promoting liberty abroad in the face of the war on terror. There is no doubt, if you have not figured it out, I am a Ron Paul supporter mainly because he is the only politician in the race who speaks truth about the problems facing our republic. He doesnīt doublespeak his answers when he is asked a difficult question, and he has consistently ran on the same platform of individual liberty, smaller government, and repealing the central bank without ever flip flopping on any issue. What I cannot fathom is how, or why, hasnīt his message been spreading throughout the country like wild fire? Maybe it is, and I am missing all of the news broadcast about it. Or perhaps, it is happening but the mainstream news has not been doing its civic duty by report it to the American people. Then again, one million people have voted for Ron Paul. The fire is spreading and this could be a good thing for the future of this republic.

A couple of weeks ago, the Ron Paul revolution got its media coverage. The Nevada Convention was abruptly shut down by state Senator Bob Beers, the convention chairman, claiming that the contract they had with Peppermill Hotel Casino expired and the convention had to be canceled. Now, any logical person who knows how these things work, would tell you if that was the case then why did the hotel allow the convention to convene in the first place? A similar action took place in St. Louis where, in last minute rule changes by the state party, half of the delegates, who were suspected of being Ron Paul supporters, were disqualified in order to protect the Feb 5 primary winner McCain. According to the mayor of Glendale, Rich Magee, the chairman of the convention, "The Paul supporters who came in here and don't want to support John McCain at the presidential convention are not republicans in my opinion." Why the abrupt cancellation of a democratic convention where republicans wanted to vote for delegates who happen to like the ideas Ron Paul has been spreading throughout his campaign? Loyalty to the party for the sake of unity sounds a lot like communist banter, or even that of a fascist.

These campaigns on both sides of the political spectrum have run on the platform of change, or of hope. Obama has used it well during his campaign as well as Hillary Clinton. When a politician actually is handing the concept of change, like Ron Paul has consistently done, to the American people on a silver platter, with no political BS, it seems that either the establishment, or even the people running the GOP are against such a change. Why? Why the resistance to such a change when this country claims to be the only country that allows its people to change the direction of the country? Ron Paul is not a nut. He doesnīt ramble on and on about evil, global, cabals hell bent on world domination. He is a doctor who, like many other doctors, tries to find a cure to a specific illness. And it is safe to say that Doctor Ron Paul has cured the illness of apathy. Heīs also been an Air Force doctor, served in the Congress for countless years and follows the Constitution to guide him in policy decisions. I mean, what is so wrong with following the Constitution? Now that I mention it, I donīt think I ever heard John McCain, Hillary Clinton, or Barack Obama ever mention the constitution in any of their speeches. All I hear is the same old political banter. Not one mention about the credit crisis and what type of solutions we can use to fix it. Not one word about the Patriot Act and if they are going to repeal it. Not one word about unchecked government power. Not one word about the bloated bureaucracy that has grown in this country. Not one word about the tremendous harm NAFTA has done to our country and to our fellow Americans. Not one word about the failing education system. Itīs only war, war, and more war, hope, change, terror, heīs black, sheīs a woman, and heīs a hot head. Such vagueness should have us asking more questions not follow the line because we have no other choice.

This is the truth. Ron Paul cured my apathy and brought real hope for change because the solutions he has to restore the republic are real and not fabricated. He doesnīt beat around the bush and tells the truth no matter how ugly it may sound. For example, he does not shy away of being the only anti-war politician running as a Republican, or diffusing the IRS, the Federal Reserve, reinstate the gold standard, fiscal responsibility, and most important of all closing down the 130 military bases stationed throughout the world. Then again why do we have over 130 military stations around the world? That is a topic for another day.

Even though Ron Paul has a snowballs chance in hell to be the president of this republic, or even the nomination for the party, the ideas of liberty, fiscal responsibility, a sound monetary system, shrinking the government, and holding Constitutional principles at heart holds true to many Americans. It goes to show you that there are Americans out there who want to live in such a country that follows such principles. After all, ideas are a lot harder to destroy. The Americans who are discontent will take the ideas Ron Paul shared, and restore the Republic themselves regardless who is in office. Thank God for Ron Paul who managed to rise above it all to at least warn Americans about the looming danger that awaits us in the form of a fallen dollar or a collapsed economy, or even of police state measures to run for president to at least educate us on how to fix this experiment we call a Constitutional democratic republic.

The Revolution will live on because revolutions take time to win. This is not a call for armed revolution since they have proven to be obsolete in this day in age. This peaceful revolution will take place because the American people are fed up with the status quo. We are fed up with the war. We are fed up with high taxes. We are fed up with big government who spends and spends without any type of audit. We are fed up with everything Bush. Of course, there are those who still remain ignorant of all the injustice and will follow the lines because that is what sheep do. There are others who do not care about this message because they are happy with the state the country is in now because they are in a better place than they were years before. There are others who do not care about this message because they do not want the masses to feel like they are independent. It will surely be a long road ahead of us, but I am willing to defend this idea of liberty, Constitutional government, and fiscal responsibility.

Donīt you?

Buy the book even if you are not a Ron Paul supporter.

Buy the book because a lot of the issues plaguing our country will be cleared.

Buy the book if you truly care about the country you live in.

Buy the book if you want to cure your ignorance.
