View Full Version : How to convince people to vote for Paul instead of "a lesser of two evils"

This is a common response I get and I am thinking of the best answer to it.

"Although I agree with Ron Paul, I want my vote to count and not be wasted. So I am going to vote for Barack Obama because I feel he is the lesser of the two evils and has more of a chance."

This answer always angers me. I feel that it is the first time your vote actually counts for something! I don't want to be overly aggressive and scare the person. How do I respond to this? I get the same with republicans they'll say.

"I would vote for Ron Paul if he was the republican nominee but I would rather see a republican elected because the democratic's tax increases will be disastrous."

I try to say, well if Ron Paul was president he would get rid of the income tax! Although they feel that is awesome they don't want to "waste" their vote.

People seem to vote not on who they believe will be the best president but who they think will win. That to me seems illogical.

Tell them your not a lemming, and that you'd rather be overcome while standing in the light of truth.

Quite simply put, their vote does not count; the United States has a population of over 300 million.

Activism does count, so if you can convince them to get out the vote for Paul then that's even better.

Michael Badnarik said it somewhat like this.

"The percentages equal the likely hood. But you make the final choice.

50% Electric Chair
45% Lethal injection
5% Escape

Even if you have a 5% chance of escape, you would be insane not to try. Why should it be any different when voting?"

Because voting for a mainstream candidate is not the same as death by electrocution? The policies of the mainstream candidates are tailored to the general electorate, and most would find them very agreeable.

I was meaning to express that the perceived top two candidates likely to win are the most dangerous. One may be a bit better, but the one that is perceived to have a small chance to win is the best choice.

Michael Badnarik used this example as a way to encourage people to vote for third parties.

The only wasted vote is the one not cast for the candidate that best represents your views.

Awesome, I've never heard of that quote before. I love it.

Hmmm I think we are missing the point most people do not take the time to actually read the "news." How many of the 300 million or so people can vote. 100 million maybe more, maybe less. How many people actually vote? How many are educated?

Heres a statistic for you, of the 300 million people in this country around 50 million are eligible for military service, now if that is true (and they are aged between say 18 and 50) and RP caters to all ages, how hard should it really be to wake people up? The government has done a good job at getting us tied up in triviality that most don't seem to want to.

But when confronted with logical, sound, and reasonable explanations of say the problem with the economy, not austrian economics or anything like that, but the boom and bust cycle, or maybe they just don't know about economics(or anyother topic) and haven't had 1) an interest 2) a reason for interest. These people are friends, neighbors, and its the summer soon why don't we just pick up and really start fighting, stop trying to get people involved, (but still get people involved, the message sales itself) but we have to promote or educate people.

This may seem a bit mean but if we believe that most of the people in this country are sheep. Then why don't we start educating them on things that they will turn to, small things, like say the price of milk and why gas is so expensive, get their answers, then maybe try to sit and discuss openly and nicely why they think so. Then ask if they want to help you understand more and look it up together. Do some research with them, but overall people will wake up with three things

1) The book
2) The constitution
3) A history lesson(a real one)
4) a bond that shows a real personal connection between people, the only real thing in our society that can stop crime, and help the poor.
Its just kindness, but seriously, if they are so bent on voting for someone else, stop debating and start asking them to prove it online, if they are no good on line then see if you can do it with them. You never know, one morning you could wake up and boom, your neighbors and friends all have RP signs, hmmm wonder what happend.

(Real list)

1) Proper true education, (ie a variety of sources that are credible, and a brain, no more lies, different thoughts on economies, the arts, immigration, anything to help them understand more about the world they live in.) before you walk you crawl?
2) Reading the Book,
3) Seeing RP in person talk about these things,
4) Sitting them down and telling them about how they have been brain washed into believing things that are very much not true. (just pick a topic on this one.)

I believe everyone can open up and understand the revolution, if it unites so many people into a basic understanding of the issue of governance, that are, by and far, the most diverse group of politically active people, standing together. Then, everyone will understand.

Ok, so four things, but you all get my point. It takes time with some, even if they do not believe he will win, see if they will support the message, in part, or entirety, i bet we will surprise ourselves.

:eek:THAT'S SCARY to see them voting for Obama they hardly know who! Why do they support him? Young, excellent speaker? I don't buy that!

He ran only few years of Senate, he never taught Constitutional Law! At that time, he was a senior lecturer on LEAVE!

I didn't mind if he told the truth that he grew up being Muslim for 31 years and converted to Christian after married to Michelle Obama. However, he has no principles for telling the truth, he told plenty lies that he was raised and practiced as Christian, BS! GO TO WWW.DONTvoteOBAMA.net (http://www.DONTvoteOBAMA.net) and find him wearing a dashski (sp?) (muslim gowns) and other ones standing next to Millionarie Muslim leader. Those pictures are real and shown by another black guy.

His brother is a Muslim Marxist and Militiant (notorious kind of guy!) His father is not goat herder, he is something else that Obama doesnt want Americans to know! Read and learn the facts facts facts! see pictures and Read below....

26.) No One Contacted Canada About NAFTA - Lie, the Candian Government
issued the names and a memo of the conversation your campaign had with
them.
27.) I Am Tough On Terrorism - Lie, you missed the Iran Resolution vote
on terrorism and your good friend Ali Abunimah supports the destruction

dead terrorist in the FARC, in Colombia, was found with a letter stating
how you and he were working together on getting FARC recognized

32.) I Want All Votes To Count - Lie, you said let the delegates decide,

33.) I Want Americans To Decide - Lie, you prefer caucuses that limit
the vote, confuse the voters, force a public vote, and only operate
during small windows of time.
34.) I passed 900 Bills in the State Senate - Lie, you passed 26, most
of which you didn't write yourself.
35.) My Campaign Was Extorted By A Friend - Lie, that friend is
threatening to sue if you do not stop saying this. Obama has finally
stopped saying this.

eliminate Alice Palmer (a fellow democrat that wanted you to replace her
in the next term) from running against you by challenging ALL of her

vote against it AND you have voted to fund it every single time, unlike
Kucinich, who seems to be out gutting you. You also seem to be stepping
back from your departure date in Iraq - AGAIN.
44.) I Have Always Supported Universal Health Care - Lie, your plan
leaves us all to pay for the 15,000,000 who don't have to buy it.
45.) I Only Found Out About My Investment Conflicts Via Mail - Lie, both
companies you site as having sent you letters about this conflict have
no records of any such letters ever being created or sent.

your wife's words follow lock-step in the vein of Wright and Farrahkan,
in relation to their contempt and hatred of America.
47.) Wal-Mart Is A Company I Wouldn't Support - Lie, your wife has
received nearly a quater of a million dollars through Treehouse, which
is connected to Wal-Mart.
48.) Treehouse Is A Small Company - Lie, the CEO of Treehouse last year,
made more than the CEO of Wal-Mart, according to public records.
49.) University Of Chicago Hospital Pay Is Fair - Lie, your wife's pay
raise was nearly 150% her already bloated rate (going from $120K to
$320K weeks after you got into the US Senate and tried to get a $1
million pork project for the very same hospital) and the hospital is a
Non-Profit Hospital, which made $100,000,000 in the last 3 years. They
overcharge blacks VS whites for services, and overcharge everyone in
general by 538%!
50.) I Barely Know Rezko - Only 5 Billed Hours - Lie, you have known him
for 17 years, and decided to do a real estate deal with him during a
time when he was proven to be under investigation. Despite this, you
divided your property and had them take off $300K before the mortgage
problems started. Then Rezko's wife buys the lot beside it that you
can't afford, saving you $625,000.
51.) My Donations Have Been Checked Thoroughly - Lie, you only gave back
Hsu ($72K [Yes, the same Hsu, Obama supporters try to tie Clinton to])
and Rezko (first $66K, then when caught lying $86K, then when caught
lying again $150K and now caught lying YET AGAIN, it's $250k) their
money when publically called on their involvement in your campaigns.
52.) My Church Is Like Any Other Christian Church - Lie, your church is
so extreme, the pastor who married you, Rev. Wright, just got done
blaming the US for 9/11 and named Louis Farrahkan their person of the
year.
53.) I Disagree With My Church All The Time - Lie, you only recently
repudiated Wright, who married you and your wife, and you still donate
large sums of money to assist the church in furthering its message -
hatred and revenge. You donated in 2006 alone, $22,500 to the church
that you so terribly disagree with. That is nearly $500 PER WEEK - that
sure is disagreement, Senator Obama.
54.) I Have Clean Connections Despite Rezko - Lie, you are not only
connected to Exelon and Rezko, you are also connected to Hillary PAC
supporter Mr. Hsu, AND an Iraqi Billionaire of ill repute, Nadhmi Auchi,
who ripped off people in the Food For Oil, Iraqi deal. Mr. Auchi was
also found guilt in another political corruption scandal (largest in
France since WWII). And this is one of Obamas' good supporters that paid
millions into the Obama campaign.
55.) I never heard sermons like Rev. Wright's, that have been in videos
on You Tube all day - Lie! 3 days later during your Mea Culpa speech you
said "Did I hear controversial statements while I sat in that church?
Yes I did." FLIP-FLOPPER
56.) The Passport Invasion is a conspiracy to find dirt on me! - Lie.
Your own Campaign Foreign Policy Advisor is the CEO of the company that
looked into your records. Could it be that you had them look into yours
to hide the fact you looked into Clinton's and McCain's more than a year
before!
57.) Rev. Meeks has nothing to do with my campaigning - Lie. Rev. Meeks
appeared in ads for your Senate Campaign, donated to you, and helped
raise money, then AND NOW. He also seems to despise America as much as
Rev. Wright.
58.) My wife didn't mean America is ignorant, she was just using a
phrase - Lie. Again, MicHELLe's comments are perfectly in sync with
Wright's, Meeks', and Farrakhan's, both in language, anger, and
direction.
59.) I am very Anti-Terror - Lie. One of your good pals is long time
radical and terrorist William Ayers, with whom you have been seen in the
last 12 months and who has helped the now jailed Khalidi, Professor at
Columbia who invited Ahmadinejad to the University, to raise money for
Palestinian terrorism attacks against Israel. PS - Your church published
a pro Hamas Manifesto - guess you weren't there on THAT Sunday either?
How lucky for you.
60.) I have the best plan to cure the Mortgage Crisis - Lie. You and
your campaign buddy Penny 'Sub Prime Bank Collapse' Prizker have had
your little fingers full of subprime cash - Obama has taken $1,180,103
from the top issuers of subprime loans: Obama received $266,907 from
Lehman, $5395 from GMAC, $150,850 from Credit Suisse First Boston,
$11,250 from Countrywide, $9052 from Washington Mutual, $161,850 from
Citigroup, $4600 from CBASS, $170,050 from Morgan Stanley, $1150 from
Centex, and last but certainly NOT LEAST - Obama received $351,900 from
Goldman Sachs. I am sure that cash all came from folks who knew the
subprime loan they had was a dream, eh?
61.) I played a greater role in crafting liberal stands on gun control,
the death penalty and abortion - Lie - It was found that Obama -- the
day after sitting for the interview -- filed an amended version of the
questionnaire, which appears to contain Obama's own handwritten notes
added to one answer. Read Obama had greater role on liberal survey. html
version <ssfm/lies.htm>

Is he a lesser of two evils? NOT! There is no such thing as "One lesser of two evils" None of above! We all want Ron Paul period!

We already know Barack Hussein Obama has no experience and no plan, but boy does he give great speeches.... ?

Here is my two-pronged philosophy on the mythical "wasted vote".

1 - If you are not content with the status quo, things will need to get worse before they get better. Change doesn't happen until things get so bad people get fed up. If you vote the "lesser of two evils" and he/she wins, you are only prolonging the status quo. It will take longer before real change occurs.

2 - Your vote should be a reflection of your political beliefs. If you don't vote for the candidate who best represents those beliefs, you are minimizing the value of your vote AND sending the wrong message to the electorate. If 15% of the country align their beliefs with a candidate such as Ron Paul, but 10% decide they don't want to "waste their vote" and vote for the more "electable" McCain, the other 85% will continue to marginalize the candidate with 15% support (not insignificant) because he only received 5% of the vote.

The lessor of two evils is still just bloody freakin' evil. Is it not? Why would anyone knowingly choose to "settle" for that? Isn't it just exactly that, repeatedly and cumulatively over time, that has finally created the current sorry and tyrannical federal governmental state?

Among McCain/Clinton/Obama who is the lessor evil? I couldn't care less. All three are totally unacceptable. Are these three folks truly the best that America has to offer. If so, we are all in very very big trouble.

Demobcrazy is just a farce and a very bad joke!

;)

and along the lines of what we were talking, you and others can
take this into consideration....

"Voting for Obama IS a wasted vote since he already has the
Dem. nomination!!! It doesn't matter!!! Why not make a statement
with a vote for Ron Paul!!! That will say and mean much more than
any other vote!

And if you think that voting for McShame is a 'valued' vote then
think again. That to is a wasted vote since he already has the
Reb. nomination (so they think)!!! Why not vote for Dr. Paul and
let government know that you really want change!!!

The same is with ALL other candidate votes... The Dem. and Rep.
nominees are already decided (so they think). So, every vote is
a wasted voted EXCEPT a vote for Dr. Paul. By doing so, you are
letting the establishment know that you want RP policies. And that
is better than voting for ANYONE else!!!

:D

p.s. I know I used a lot of emphasis with the !!! but I think you get my point!!!
