Hey, we've got a TV ad we can edit to our liking, and the best thing is it's FREE (don't ask). The only thing that will cost is to air it. PLEASE help me come up with a script for this ad ASAP, they will work on it today and tomorrow if we do so and we can have you guys preview it by Tuesday and have it on the air by the end of next week (just in time for the NH debates). Each TV spot for cable in New Hampshire will cost $17 and we will reach a geographic area of 600,000 NH residents and 30,000 Maine residents (some NH cable markets extend into ME). We won't spend but a couple thousand airing this ad, and I will pay for that upfront with my own money. It will run until our professional ad is complete which may take a while. The ad is good because it appeals to the New England / NH&ME area, esp. the seacost areas with the church and lighthouse. Also it is upbeat and will put out a positive image of Paul for good name recognition and empathy for his views.

Please script a new voiceover of no more than about 90 words and we need to choose 3 pictures and a Ron Paul banner that will be placed into the ad. Here is the ad, please view it then come up with your ideas quick. I managed to secure a good deal, let's take advantage of it and not let it go to waste.

I don't know if you're going to keep the religious-y undertone to the ad, but in New Hampshire that'll probably do more harm than good.

No! That's why I need you guys to come up with new voiceovers for the ad. We are going to change the ENTIRE voiceover, put 3 pictures in and change the banner. We have to keep the music and rest of the ad (the church and lighthouse)

Edit - At the end where it says "your headshot here" a Ron Paul: Hope for America banner will fade onto screen

I guess I have to start things off    :(

Come on people, we have a VERY short 4 months left. If 80% of the people in NH (and across America for that matter) have never even HEARD of Ron Paul, how the hell are they supposed to vote for him? We need to get the message out NOW (or at LEAST name recognition), to as many people as possible. That's why I'm working on the TV part (handing out literature etc is also very good, but we can reach the most with mass media, and I can only concentrate on one thing at a time). So that's why I'm so insistent. It's personal to me to get RP elected.

You want a leader you can believe in. Who shares your values and vision for the future.
In the Republican primary, cast your vote for Ron Paul.
He knows the importance of the Constitution and the American way of life.
Ronald Reagan said that "as a former Air Force officer,
[Ron Paul] knows well the needs of our armed forces, and he always puts them first."
Ron Paul courageously voted against the Iraq war and for peace & prosperity.
As Ron Reagan said, "We need to keep [Ron Paul] fighting for our country!"

There's my script I made up in 2 mins, and will be submitted unless we get other ideas rolling. That script would go good with pictures of RP in Uniform and of RP and Reagan together, with the RP banner at the bottom and the RP: Hope for America screenshot at the end.

Anyone else?

Are you tired of the same politics day in and day out? Vote RON PAUL for president. Congressman RON PAUL's 10 term voting record is flawlessly consistent with the Constitution. RON PAUL voted against the Iraq War, against the Patriot Act, and against the Military Commissions ACT. RON PAUL offers true free market, real tax reform, and peace. RON PAUL is the only choice for real change back to a prosperous America. Vote RON PAUL for president!

OR..

America is careening dangerously close to Socialism and we have to stop it. Vote RON PAUL for President. RON PAUL offers true tax reform, true spending cuts, and true free market. RON PAUL is a 40 year OB/GYN who understands our Health Care system and can lead us back to affordable free market solutions. Congressman RON PAUL is the Champion of the Constitution and a true defender of liberty. RON PAUL for president.

That's all I have at the moment, I'll think on it more and submit more later..

America was built on self-reliance and independence, not big government and taxes.
Ron Paul understands that and always votes according to the Constitution.
He's never voted to raise taxes or restrict the 2nd amendment.
He voted against the Patriot Act and the Iraq war.
For Freedom, Prosperity, and Peace, vote Ron Paul for President.

Well, I've thought about this.

Then I came up with the conclusion that it's not an edorsement of Ron Paul, directly or indirectly, but rather a compliment. People saying good things about someone else, ESPECIALLY a former President saying something good about someone else, is almost always a good thing. It shows to his goodness and character. No matter what people think about Reagan (although most people, especially Republicans and Independents, do like him), they will respect the fact that people think so highly of Ron Paul. And when the not-so-well-informed hear a President quoted as saying that, they will be impressed just because the "President said so."

Politics as usual, just won’t cut it anymore. That’s why Ron Paul is running for President. Ron Paul knows what it will take to get America back in the right direction. As a doctor, Ron Paul delivered over 4,000 babies, and understands how truly special, each and every one of us is, and as a congressman, Ron Paul has always fought for the liberty of all Americans, as envisioned by our founding fathers. Vote, Ron Paul, 2008.

The Founding Fathers of this great Nation created a Constitutional Republic, securing liberty and Freedom for We the People. Dr. Ron Paul, a Vietnam Veteran and OBGYN has given 20 years service to his Country as a United States Congressman while upholding 100% adherence to the Constitution . He has never voted to raise taxes and has been named the “Taxpayers best Friend” for ten consecutive years. Often a lone voice, Congressman Paul voted against the Iraq war and the Patriot Act.

A leader who exudes confidence and intelligence while maintaining the highest levels of ethics and integrity is a choice for prosperity and freedom. There is Hope For America. Vote Ron Paul for President is 2008.

As a new day breaks in America, you hold the keys to this nation's future. Come -Date Specific- it is you who will decide the fate of our nation. You who will decide between the paths of gloom and doom (don't really like that phrasing) or peace and prosperity.

:: music goes... pow!::

Only one man-Ron Paul-has the courage to stand on principal and to make the tough calls when our country needs it the most.

For ten-terms Ron Paul has fought proudly for the cause of liberty, representing both rural and urban communities along the Texas Coastal Bend.

On-Date Specific-is your chance to put Ron Paul to work for you. Event Specific info from here, and then a little pitch, 'so vote Ron Paul' or 'Hope for America, Be a Part of It' logo.

This would be a really generic voice over... you could insert anything agenda specific in the middle of it and it would flow just fine. For Example, after Coastal Bend, you could bring up his district housing and employing individuals displaced by Katrina.

Great ideas so far but 2 things:

1.) Most people do not know what hte Military Comissions act is. People will probably assume he opposes funding the military

2.) "States' Rights" is a loaded phrase - it has been ever since the 60's. How about "Ron Paul wants local people to make local decisions"

Politics today is a whirlwind of activity. You never really know which politician is out to truly represent the people. Congressman RON PAUL has the values, principals, and understanding of today's problems to lead America to prosperity. RON PAUL's loyalty and work ethic has been a beacon of hope. RON PAUL has never raised taxes, never raised congressional pay, and never voted to infringe on your privacy. RON PAUL is a true Constitutionalist. Vote RON PAUL for President.

OR

Freedom and Prosperity can only come from a President who adhere's to the Constitution. RON PAUL's perfect voting record consistently protects our Constitution. What is your goal? NAME RECOGNITION. You need to hear a candidate's name 7 times before you vote for him. It a popularity contest first, not an issues contest.

People also like to be with the flock, NOT INDEPENDENT. America likes a WINNER.

How About:

Ron Paul is running for president in 2008. Ron Paul recently BEAT Rudy Giuliani and John McCain at the influential Iowa Straw poll. He recently won the Alabama straw poll and came in first right here in Stratford County New Hampshire. Today Ron Paul is the most searched for Candidate on Google and has the most friends on MySpace. Find out why Ron Paul is winning at www.RonPaul2008.com

This would get the name in a few times. Tell people he is a winner. The sheep will follow.

All of the otehr posts are of course good, but If i were running the campaign, my goal would be name recognition first. Issues second.

Skiing,
I've seen you doing a lot of work to get ads up and your doing a great job. Good find with the prepackaged ad, I like it!

It may be too late for this effort, but I just saw a great video from an Ohio meetup group where folks were giving testimonials on why they support Ron Paul. I think it is good material for an ad. The video is here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6SNFZZ2SXos

In particular, the woman at 6:17 has a great message that I think would play VERY well for recruiting through an ad. I timed her comments at 60 seconds, but it could be cut down.

My idea to offer you and anybody else making ads is to find her and get permission to use her words and have them re-recorded into an ad, or perhaps have her re-record them in a quiet room.

I think her message would mean something to a lot of people and personifies Ron Paul's character and many of the reasons we are all supportive of him. I think I will play this clip at a Constitution fair we are attending in Arizona.

"The first time I ever heard about Ron Paul was on short wave, radio. and I was enthused from the very beginning that he had been in Washington for so long and he had been attempting to do the thing that, you know, we want done in this country, not just talk. He's not a man of talk. He has a wonderful background as being a doctor, a medical doctor, and he also doesn't have any scandal in his life. And I'm impressed with that. Because he is just what he says he is. And also, I don't think there's anything more important today than getting the fact out that we aren't following the Constitution, which is the true law of the land. Not the Supreme Court. The Constitution is the law of the land and Ron Paul is 100% a Constitutionalist. And I thank the lord that he's running."
~ Woman from Columbus OH meetup group

Well said.

The ad as a whole should focus more on Ron Paul's growth and the excitement around him. It should include pictures of large rally's of people MORE THAN ANYTHING.

I like Slugg's except I think it should touch on his huge grassroots support.

OBVIOUSLY SOME OF THE WORDING CAN BE POLISHED LIKE:

Find out why thousands of Americans (passionately) are committing their time, money and talent into getting Ron Paul elected.

BOTTOM LINE: WE NEED NAME RECOGNITION! RON PAUL AND HIS MESSAGE SELL THEMSELVES AS LONG AS WE DIRECT THEM TO SOURCES ON HIM. (Plus when people discover this stuff on their own their more likely to appreciate it)
Keep working with this concept everybody.

Also the current ad completely fails to understand Ron Paul's message on Iraq. This is from DailyPaul.com

The commercial stated that Ron Paul opposed the Iraq war, "so that American young men and women would not be unnecessarily put at risk.."

Well, not putting young American lives at risk is a good thing; but that is not the reason that Dr. Paul opposed it. He said no because it was undeclared and unconstitutional. That's the reason. Here tis.

http://www.spotrunner.com/Ads/Host/...

Although it is admirable that an independent group produces its own commercial and makes the media buy on its own, it is frustrating to have Dr. Paul's main position missing. I also recall the commercial that ran in Ames, Iowa, during the time of the straw poll. It was a blurry mess, assembled from various clips.

I do not, for one second, fault the good intentions of those who make these spots. There have been some spectacular videos supporting Dr. Paul on YouTube and Google and I am often among the first to applaud. Ron Paul - Stop Dreaming was just great, but of course too long for a commercial spot.

Nobody sells Dr. Paul better than himself. If you make a TV spot, let him speak directly, as he has in many venues. There are many fine clips that may be used. I would stick to clear face shots of Dr. Paul speaking, without bombastic music, waving flag graphics or the kind of hoopla that the other candidates use. Keep it simple; let him speak. He's good. That's my two cents' worth.

In the times ahead, when our relationships with nations around the globe are strained and the financial strength of the dollar is weakening, and America’s civil liberties are being eroded by the hour, and decisions are tough, Now is the time, more than in any other time, that America needs a President with a foreign policy shared with the founding fathers. America needs a president that believes in sound money, reduced federal spending and a smaller federal government. America needs a President that will defend the Constitution, the people and the sovereignty of the United States against all forms of tyranny America needs a wise, well read, experienced President, strong in his convictions and beliefs in freedom and liberty
