View Full Version : RP Supporters Can't have a Hospitality Suite

Our State Campaign Coordinator sent a request to the Georgia GOP to let us have a booth at the State Convention this Saturday. We wanted to serve drinks and pass out copies of "Revolution - A Manifesto" and have some music.

Here's the response we got:

"While the Georgia Republican Party did remain neutral during the
Presidential Primary Process, we are now unified behind Senator John
McCain, our presumptive nominee. As a Party, our attention has now
focused to supporting him in his efforts to be our Nation’s 44th
President. For those reasons, we must decline your request for a
hospitality suite. We look forward to seeing you in Columbus.”

So no booth for us. Anybody else have this happen to them?

Send them a response asking why they support a candidate who isn't a Republican.

Do they not understand that 25-30% of Republicans are so opposed to McCain that they actually vote for candidates not in the race any more?

Are Republican party members not free to support the REPUBLICAN of their choice?

Who knows. Who really knows any more.

I have never seen this in all my years. I have never seen a party flip off a quarter of its base (conservatives) and do nothing to throw them a bone. I've never seen party officials line up behind one another like lemmings going over a cliff.

This isn't even about Ron Paul any more. This is about the future viability and survival of the Republican Party.

Alienating people that cannot support the nominee does nothing to help us.

Isn't the State and National Convention still part of the Nominating Process? The "republic' part?

And, as a Party, they should be making sure the candidate lives up to their Members' ideas of a candidate, not trying to brainwash their constituency into thinking McCain is the perfect candidate. They have it completely backwards.

That's a funny one. Really it is. Of course not.

Sorry, I'm still detoxing from the propaganda fed to me at the AZ state convention.

See if the Republican Liberty Caucus is able to purchase a booth.

I would think that this is not up to your state committee to give an answer, but rather the venue as to rather they will rent you a booth.

"The Message of Liberty is not consistent with the presumptive nominee's platform, so we suggest you instead volunteer to work for the "Socialism: Is it Right for You?" Booth and Rally around the Party's Leadership - as they've proven themselves to be perfect arbiters of political and governmental decisions whether you look in the last 8, 20, or 60 years."

Good one!:p

Here's the deal: we ARE trying to set up shop under a different name, or outside or somewhere. The point of the post, however, was to show how our state party is holding us at arms length.

They are preaching UNITY, people. No diversity of opinion is allowed and definitely will not be tolerated. They are not going to let any of us through to National, but they will be cordial because they know we have increased their participation numbers and reduced the median age of their membership. They also need us BAD to help campaign for local and state elections later this summer.

And of course they love our money.

And speaking of "setting up shop," these dang people are unwilling to take our freaking conservative-libertarian $500 in the name of unity under a Democrat. Sheesh. I'm living in Bizarro Land.

We have been instructed to go full out as Ron Paul supporters by our leader. You can bet that we'll be wearing our RP buttons proudly!

You can make your own you know? http://www.buildasign.com/

I just wonder if the GOP realizes that it's not just that they've lost a few percentages of votes... they will have loads of Republicans across the US working hard to defeat McCain. Since early December they marginalized those of us who opposed the Iraq war and called for smaller federal government, and now they're going to find out that we won't stay home and quietly "not vote".

The fact is you have to get their earlier than the lemmings and start steering people before they get a chance. Take over...make others think you are official. Get word out that literature and stuff being handed out is from non conservatives who are trying to ruin the GOP.

Isn't this like steamrolling McCain to the nod, not supporting?

Nope, they've already picked who we support, and it's John McCain. Fall in line, sheep.
