Yeah, I love my country, but fear my government. It is still probably the most "free" country in the world, but we've gone way off the path.

Not proud that Obama won my state by such a large margin. I'm sure the Hillary supporters feel like Paul people today. The media has told us all day who has won the Democrat's primary even though not one delegate has voted.
Since March 1st Hillary has a larger popular vote and more delegates than Obama. Two weeks ago Hillary beats Obama by 10 points and loses in NC by 14 points but it doesn't matter to the talking heads. Hillary went 1 for two last night and will probably win every contest except Oregon until the end. This will mean Hillary will win about 75% of the contest after March 1st.
I don't see how the exclude Michagan and Florida but I guess I'll stay tuned.

This reminds me of the Maine GOP Convention, where the establishment's choice for Congress, Charlie Summers had a video played and the background music was "Proud to be an American" the anthem rock song. It showed him in Iraq the whole video. I mentioned to those around me, "Gee, I don't see one picture of him in America . . ." I am proud of the founding American principles and philosophies, but I in no way am proud to associate myself with current American foreign and domestic policies. I am probably a little better off here than I would be in a few other countries. Ben Franklin would consider the Republic long gone, and would spit in the face of the oligarchy after catching a sun ray with his newly invented death goggles and killing George W. Bush.
I love the landmass. I dislike the government.

Hillary? Why are you sniveling about Hillary?
Hillary has performed one of the most spectacular flame outs in political history- from "inevitable" to "road kill" in a few months.
She had everything going for her- name recognition, big money backing, backing from party power brokers, all the press coverage she wanted- the only thing she lacked was charisma, honesty, and integrity (but other than that, she's the "total package", lol).
In the end, her arrogance and lack of preparation caused her to get beat by a relative unknown who had nothing going for him.
I'm no fan of McWar or Obama, but I'm GLAD Hillary got what she had coming. Couldn't have happened to a nastier (or more dishonest) person.
How do you like that pro-war vote now, Madame warmonger Hillary?

'Still proud to be an American..' you haven't traveled much outside the US have you?
Personally, I tend to agree with Socrates. "I am not an Athenian or a Greek, but a citizen of the world."
“Each of you, for himself, by himself and on his own responsibility, must speak. And it is a solemn and weighty responsibility, and not lightly to be flung aside at the bullying of pulpit, press, government, or the empty catchphrases of politicians. Each must for himself alone decide what is right and what is wrong, and which course is patriotic and which isn't.
You cannot shirk this and be a man. To decide against your convictions is to be an unqualified and inexcusable traitor, both to yourself and to your country, let man label you as they may.
If you alone of all the nation shall decide one way, and that way be the right way according to your convictions of the right, you have done your duty by yourself and by your country- hold up your head! You have nothing to be ashamed of.” ~ Mark Twain

Well, I was lucky to be born somewhere that has a tiny bit more freedom than most other places. I don't see that as anything to be proud of. This reminds me of people who get their identity from their favorite sports team or political party.
How does the luck of where you were born relate to pride in accomplishment?
I don't understand the thrust of this whole thread, sorry.

No, not at all, not of we have become.
I am proud of what we once were, and of the small remnant of that.
But most of what we do, who we are and what we allow in our name is nothing to be proud of.
(Oh and BTW, I HATE that fucking song)
