Take it easy with the planks. If Maine has taught us anything, it's that we should be taking small, meaningful steps as opposed to large leaps that fail horribly.

Here are some ideas for planks to the party platform:

"We support the replacement of the Federal income tax with the 'Fair Tax', a national sales tax."

"We support legalizing competition in first class mail."

"We support legalizing marijuana for personal use."

"We support legalizing competing currencies."

Feel free to add any ideas. But please, no gigantic lists that rank-and-file Republican sheep would laugh their butts off listening to.

Also, this should probably be stickied (please). :)

"We support legalizing competing currencies."

That's a SMALL step?? No it isn't, that's freaking enormous.
How about starting with removing the sales tax from Gold and Silver.

No replacement, either just eliminate it or make sure the IRS properly applies it.

I personally would like to go back to where judges are exempt, so one could get a more impartial court where judges aren't afraid of retribution (audits, etc.). And maybe have their salaries come from other sources too, so they don't have a vested interest in increasing revenue collection.

If it smells like a tyrant...

How about RETURNING ALL MONIES PAID, PLUS INTEREST!!!

You are saying, let the bully steal your lunch money, but now distribute the theft evenly?

ARGHH!

It is small compared to: "Durrr, let's abolish the Fed!"

I'm saying get rid of the IRS in a way that makes all the neocons happy - they cheer when Huckabee talks about it. The bully's already taking your lunch money. But it's taking it before you have a chance to spend it.

I tend to agree. The platform has no authority. And changing it up front shows your hand.
Seems to me that it would be better to keep quiet until we can get into positions of real power and actually change things from within.

planks are all smoke and mirrors....not worth a second of your life if you do not have a person with integrity to read and abide by them

Well, there are a lot of neocons voting against our guys' proposed amendments, so they care about them. And if we're going to participate in the conventions, we might as well propose amendments that are likely - or at least more likely - to pass.

You can turn a TV on with a stick or you can walk up to it and press the damn button. One takes a little longer, but you still achieve your goal of turning the TV on.
