This feels very familiar, no? Even what Rockefeller says reminds me of our opponents. The only problem is that we are outnumbered a lot more this time... we will win once again some day though. =)

I love that line: Extremism in the defence of liberty is no vice. Moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue

This video will be good for 4 years from now. The comparable convention is the 1960 one.

Yes, but his speech spurred him onto to be the 1964 nominee. We just have to be better in the General than he was.

and hence, the Neocon agenda for the extreme use of war under the facade of 'democracy' has taken hold of the majority of those that think themselves conservative republicans. :(

I think they were more outnumbered then. The government media complex was much more powerful then. At least now we have the internet.

This might sound dumb but are they even going to vote at this years convention?? Both the Dems and Repubs don't seem like they want a convention like that to happen and it is just more or less a formality to hold the convention now.

The other difference is that 1960 was a time of peace and prosperity. Things weren't perfect--look at the way minorities were treated, and the cold war was nearing it's peak--but there was no underlying dissatisfaction to rival today!

1960 is an interesting object lesson for us, but I really don't expect us to come out just the way they did then.
