I was libertarian. I voted for Harry Browne in 2000 and Michael Badnarik in 2004.

Hope you know a moderator, because I don't know how to change poll options.

If you don't mind me asking, did you move? And, are Republicans not tolerated in Philly? :)

I wasn't of age to vote in the last election, and my only political knowledge was that (Bush=bad) + (Kerry=bad) = Politics bad.

If I had to pick, though, it'd be Republican - simply because my parents, namely my dad, badmouthed the Democrats for as long as I can remember.

Not sure... I kinda considered myself a Republican, but I was just following my parents at the time. I'd never supported anyone or cared. So I just really don't know. I wasn't really anything.

I was once a democrat, but I now switched over to the independent group of folks because the Democrats are becoming too corrupt. The lying done by Hillary and Obama day after day, and the hypocrisy of the democratic party was the number one motivator for me switching over. The democratic party is now run by lobbyists, not by principle.

Independent - And always felt both major parties left us with poor choices. Voted for the lessor of two evils for 20 years and won't do it ever again!

I meant..... ehhh... Deer. Yes. I misread the OP - and thought he said... deer.

Deer overpopulation harms natural ecosystems. In high deer density areas, deer browsing prevents the regeneration of forests as deer eat nearly all the tree seedlings, destroy forest understory plants, and reduce overall species richness. Several studies found that deer browsing significantly reduces songbird numbers by destroying their habitats.

Honest mistake, too.

i thought conservative meant an asshole who is vehemently against gay marriage.

Ah! That reminds me of so many Government debates in class! Every time I said anything the liberal kids would bring that up. It got aggravating, how is it that people can associate an argument about Iraq with gay marriage? Eventually ended up yelling something along the lines of "I do not give a SH!T about gay marriage" Good thing the teacher was chill enough to let it slide.

Well... see - I try to divide my attention to uhhh.... 5 different articles at once so that I can absorb as much information as possible. I rarely make mistakes - but as I was responding to a question about "deer in headlights" on uhh.... another forum - I accidentally confused the two words.

I'm only 20 and hadn't really paid much attention, but I hated Bush so becoming a democrat only seemed right. I lost complete faith though once they got the majority and nothing changed at all. Ron Paul's the only politician who I feel speaks what I was thinking all that time.

I was a Democrat, but never voted or cared. Most of my life, I considered myself a social "liberal" but a fiscal "conservative," but felt that neither party covered either very well.

That sounds a lot like what Jesse Ventura (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=74stuTmkjYc) says about his own beliefs.

Well I'm 20...

I came to the table knowing G.Bush was a wanker. And pretty much every single other Republican senator / congressmen toed party lines and was thus a ---k head aswell.

Until I met Ron Paul. :D!!! He not only cured my apathy, he brought me to this movement, he's shown me the light and the path that I was looking for.

I said democrat.. because I wld have still been in the two party system paradigm mentality..

f--k both parties... 1 evil, 2 faces.

I have been and remain Independent. I have leaned toward the Republicans in the past as the platform was closest to my beliefs, (smaller, limited govt) by have been disappointed over and over again.
I had never gotten as involved as I have this time.
Ron Paul gave me hope.

Funny you should mention that. I actually know two people who have become anarchists during the Paul campaign.

Look at that graph. Beautiful!

I was wondering about what this same graph will look like 4 years from now, and where I will be. I might still consider myself Republican, but with a good 2 or 3 strong adjectives in front of it.

Watching the "system" just do "it's thing" could tend to do that to folks. :D

I was a Republican, and actually was on-board with Bush until about mid-2004. Got disillusioned with the Republicans for being useless on defending the things they used to stand for... but knew the Democrats were even worse with their socialist policies. Was reading some libertarian political philosophy at the time (Nozick, etc.), and that kinda woke me up.

Remained registered Republican the whole time, but voted for Badnarik in 2004 (didn't even know who he was, just saw the "Libertarian" next to his name and figured he had to be better than Bush or Kerry).

Then went apathetic for a few years, not even bothering to vote, until seeing some YouTube videos last autumn. Will remain Republican, but will NOT give my vote based on party. I'll look at the candidates and see who is the closest to offering real liberty and real Constitutional principles, and vote for them no matter what party. In some cases, that may mean choosing someone who is nowhere near libertarian--just not as socialist/statist/authoritarian as the other candidate(s). In many cases, it will mean leaving sections of the ballot blank or writing in someone.

I was an independent who generally voted for Republicans and Libertarians. I only voted in one Primary before, and that was the 2000 Republican Primary where I voted for Steve Forbes.

Since you can vote in the primaries here at 17 if you will be 18 by November that year, I have been a registered Republican since I was 17, in 2006. I definitely plan on sticking with the party and working within it.
