Questions about sign placement

Are there any laws for sign placement or is it a state by state thing? I want to place a few ron paul signs locally (in massachusetts). I have been trying to look it up online but so far no luck figuring it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's locality by locality.

I think it actually goes down to town/city level. Each has their own rules. The state might have some sign rules (I doubt much though) but most towns/cities do.
