I just got a new cell phone and coincidentally received a prepaid, plastic envelope for Cell Phones For Soldiers (http://www.cellphonesforsoldiers.com) with my last order of The Revolution. Being the skeptic that I am, I felt it necessary to do some research on the organization.

I've found that this is a legitimate, worthy organization based on these facts:
1. It's a non-profit organization originally started in 2004 by a 12-year old girl and 13-year old boy in Massachusetts.
2. It's run in coordination with recellular (http://recellular.com). They buy the donated phones from the organization whom in-turn uses that money to send phone cards to the troops.
3. Since its inception, the organization has raised almost $1 million in donations and distributed more than 400,000 prepaid calling cards to soldiers serving overseas.
4. They provide instructions for wiping data from a large number of cell phone models. (http://www.recellular.com/recycling/data_eraser/default.asp)
5. They also accept direct cash donations. (http://cellphonesforsoldiers.com/donateMoney.html)
6. They offer FREE postage labels on their website. (http://cellphonesforsoldiers.com/shippingLabel_generic.html)

They're getting my old cell phone Monday.
