View Full Version : Why we won't go away

After the Nevada convention this last weekend, I'm sure a lot of people are asking: Why won't these Ron Paul supporters just go away?

I'll tell you why.

The people supporting Ron Paul believe that the Republican party has a golden opportunity, and is making a huge mistake with the nomination of John McCain.

The Republican party lost its majority in the last congressional elections over three main issues. The war, immigration, and basic public perception. However, the party leadership has not changed it's policy on any of these issues, leading us to believe that they still don't understand why they lost so badly. Do they think that just because the Democrats have failed to capitalize on the victory, that public sentiment will return to favor their own failing policies? No, the county is dying for a new direction, and we have the opportunity to offer it to them.

The public has lost faith in the Republican party, and it's our own fault. We support candidates and elected officials merely because there is an R behind the name, and never mind if they actually adhere to Republican ideals.

There is no greater example of this than the Presidential election. In a time when the country most needs a true conservative Republican to bring us from the brink of financial disaster, the party has chosen to support the candidate that least supports these principles. The absurdity of this is further multiplied by the presence of Ron Paul, the most conservative, and financially knowledgeable candidate in our lifetime.

People feel betrayed by the party. It is a simple fact that the Bush administration has said many things, and then acted opposite of their stated course. No one trusts the republican party anymore. So what can we do to fix this problem? Anyone who has had a child who has betrayed your trust knows that to repair this, they must prove themselves trustworthy again before it is granted. We have a candidate available to us who has walked his talk for thirty years. Who has undeniable principled integrity, who has been married to the same woman for fifty years, and who uses the constitution as his guide for all decisions.

Yet we choose the candidate who has an F minus rating on second amendment choices, the Keating 5 in his history, and has more in common with tax and spend liberals than he does his own party. If we want to re-establish trust with the public, we must stop the hypocrisy. We must act as we talk, and talk as we act. This is simple and true, and everyone knows it.

Electability. This is a catchphrase created by the media to discredit candidates that they cannot discredit any other way. Don't fall for it. They called Ronald Reagan unelectable in case no one recalls. The idea that the Thomas Jefferson of our time is unelectable is an insult to our intelligence. A person is only unelectable if we refuse to elect him. If this were a beauty contest, how the hell did John McCain end up on top? It's a media trick, and I repeat. Don't fall for it.

If you have any questions about Ron Paul's politics and beliefs, his new book "Revolution: A Manifesto", is out this week. I urge you to read it, and then I defy you to continue to contest that his ideals are not exactly what this country needs at this moment in time.

Someone said this to me last week, and I believe it is true. "If God wrote a prescription for the cure to this country's ills, it would be Ron Paul".

Visualize this if you will. After gaining momentum in each State convention, the Ron Paul movement becomes irresistible, and The Republican Party Nominates Ron Paul during the convention in September. This leaves a little over a month before the general elections. In that time there are three, or possible four debates with whatever socialist becomes the Democratic nominee. Ron Paul completely devastates them with his message of peace, prosperity, and freedom. Ron Paul is elected in a landslide victory, returning honor and dignity to the office of President, and victory to the now rejuvenated Republican party. Congress recognizes the shift, and starts working diligently to get us back onto a constitutional course.

The United States once more becomes the proud example of what a free and prosperous county can achieve.
