He also said we are over there so they won't be over here, yet they warn us constantly of terrorist threat? I guess they aren't over there as much as we would like....

Coming up on 6 years now since the Twin Towers came down.

In 6 years, with our borders basically wide open, not one "terrorist" event.....not even a simple car bomb at a shopping mall parking lot....how hard would THAT be for the folks that pulled off something like 9-11 ?

So, if they were coming, I suspect we would have already SEEN IT.

We were also supporting the "wrong people" in the middle of the war too. Ho Chi Mihn once lived in the US and liked the US. During WWII, he was supported by US clandestine services (sound familiar?) against the Japanese. But later we were against him because he would have united an independent Vietnam. That's not what we wanted. In the early days, like the 50s, if we had simply supported Ho Chi Minh the way 80%+ of Vietnam did, then there would have been no war and a free and independent Vietnam. Oh, but the Domino Theory!!

Now in Iraq, we are supporting (sorta anymore) the Dawa Party and the Supreme Islamic Council. The Dawa Party, while longtime enemies of Saddam and the Ba'ath Party, were also longtime enemies of the US. Dawa was responsible for the 1983 bombing of the US Embassy in Kuwait (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1983_Kuwait_Bombing). Anyway, I guess we can't just let them have their country either. It's just not in US interests to keep it's army closer to home.
