Anyone planning on staying at a hotel/motel in DC?

My boyfriend and I would like to be at a place where other supporters are staying.

Here are some I checked out:

Anyone else plan on staying at a hotel/Motel/Inn and have other suggestions?

I got a good deal at the Roadway Inn at Potomac Mill, VA.

I have a room booked at the SpringHill Suites in Herndon (near Dulles Airport) from July 11th - 13th for $59.00/night. Here's the link:

You can also book it through Expedia.com for the same price. This hotel is all suites and it has a free hot breakfast. It's about 12 miles from the Vienna Metro station to get downtown. You can also try Hotwire.com and Priceline.com near Dulles Airport for lower prices. You can usually get a 2 1/2 to 4 star hotel for around $50 or less.

I live right behind the Days Inn on Connecticut Ave in North West Washington, DC.

When the Conservative Political Action Conference was taking place down the avenue, last February, I spent some time talking to some CPACers at the hotel bar. It's in Tesoro Restaurant. They are for Ron Paul now.

I recommend you join me in my neighborhood. We can hang out at the bar and influence Tim Russert with our Revolutionary views. ;) There are a lot of Embassies around here, so there are lots of police officers hanging around too. It's safe, nice and clean.

If you call them they will tell you rooms are $189 but if you book online I think you can get a room for as little as $89. Well worth it to be in uptown DC where I like to be. Ask for me at the bar, just ask "Where is the Ron Paul guy?" See you in July.

Hard decision. Gah.

I'm looking for somewhat inexpensive, but not 'you get what you pay for' quality, close to D.C. where I can just walk there (new car = I'm not driving far in DC)...

I thought a hotel with on-site parking would be the best.

I'll look over those hotels you guys gave me, thanks a lot :)

I just want to take this opportunity to let everyone know that our English cousin "liam" who posted above is a great friend of the r3VOLution, and very generously put my mother up at a classy hotel, here in DC, when she came down to greet me at the end of my ride. I am very much looking forward to sharing a pint , or three, with the man :D

I don't know if this will help you guys or not, but when I go to DC, I usually stay in a place that's right near the Metro line. Last time (this past February) I stayed in Shady Grove, MD. There was a Red Roof Inn right near the line and they had rooms for less than $100/night (not sure what they charge in the summer). The rooms on the 2nd floor have 2 full-size beds.

The best part? They're okay with dogs if that's something important to you. The parking is free at the Metro stop there, and you can avoid the DC traffic. And you can see a few decent sites on the way, however, you do miss Georgetown and some other interesting places.

By the way, the Metro is a pretty clean and logical subway. Just pay attention to the times that the trains run to certain places.

Hope that helps!

Edit: oops--the map only comes up in parts, here's the link: http://www.wmata.com/metrorail/systemmap.cfm

If you are able to get rooms at that hotel for that rate over that weekend, let me know. This is one of the hotels that has submitted a bid for 300 rooms for the Revolution March. The rate for 300 rooms is higher than $84.99, and I'm curious where you got the rate. Thanks!

It has some very inexpensive accommodations and other ideas.
