I could only find it on foxnews' website, but there's a vid of Maher on Oreilly. He's asked who he'd support from the republican party. Doesn't even mention Dr. Paul.[Edit:]:/

Yea he said all the Republican candidates are "comedians"

I said it before. He is simply using Dr. Paul's foreign policy as a tool to get the Democrats to come closer to him on Iraq. I don't think Bill Maher really agrees with Dr. Paul on most other issues.

Send him a myspace message and ask "why"?

I think he got the directive from above, and he put his tail between his legs...

He did say before that Ron Paul was his hero though. I mean, it just shows he's kind of dumb.

It would be nice for Dr. Paul to put him on blast next time he's on the show, if ever.

The Democrats supported Ron Paul when he made the Republicans LOOK BAD. Now he is making the DEMOCRATS look bad. Democrats who realize that their party has been JUST AS SUBVERTED as the Republican party are FLOCKING to the campaign.

This is why the media "left" (hardly) will stop supporting him.

Maybe he understands that his endorsement might hurt RP as Maher is known for being more left-wing.

Who knows.

He is a part of the MSM. I can't believe you guys are honestly surprised at this type of behavior anymore. It is so typical. My dad(57)loves Maher, and It really bothers me. He appeals to a good amount of people for whatever reason.

I hope that's the case. It really may have hurt Ron Paul.

He is Maher's hero on this one foreign policy issue, because Dr Paul is the only one speaking the truth on it. That doesn't mean that he thinks Dr. Paul would be a great president, or that he even agrees with most of what Dr. Paul stands for.

Maher claimed himself a libertarian. I don't know him that well though.

Maher is a LINO

=P

He says he is a libertarian, but from what I've seen he is pretty much in favor of big government subsidization and welfare, and not very pro-free-market at all.

Yeah, maybe he is smart after all. Well, if this is the reason he didn't mention Dr. Paul.

Bill Maher IS left wing and I doubt he'll ever have him on his show again.

Bill Maher is a political Whore, he was on Larry King last week and though he had every opportunity to plug RP, he instead mentioned every other candidate except RP, apparently he has a lot of heroes.
Look up the thread discussing this issue...

When Bill Maher has a libertarian position, it's a position shared with liberals.

Yeah, RP has served his purpose for Maher.

I think most of the time Maher takes a contrarian position just for the entertainment value of arguing with everyone else.

maher is a tool and cannot be allowed to express himself too overly much or he will be deemed tooled out and thus lose his profitable position on the boob tube.

good point - i hope. i mean it was O'Reilly on Faux News so most of those viewers would look at a Maher endorsement as a negative.

Well.....I would hope he is that conscientious but I doubt it somehow...the guy has Hugh Hefner envy to the max and is hoping to inherit the mansion!! His myspace states he is a "swinger"....he's not that funny....I used to like his show though just to see what these various people's ideas were...his new show sucks compared to the old format.

He'll probably hold some kind of office when Ben Affleck runs for something ....LOL

Does Maher still call himself a Libertarian?

I remember I used to cringe whenever he'd say that.

I have an old Politically Incorrect tape where he had Harry Browne as a guest and he was acting as if he was part of Harry's political party. He gave the power-to-the-people fist gesture when introducing Harry Browne.

However, I think Bill Maher thinks he is a libertarian because he is socially tolerant, though I don't think he fully understands what libertarianism is.

I suspect Maher believes in big government programs, so he is basically just a modern liberal. But he wants to be edgy so he'll call himself a libertarian instead.
