I didn't want to post this thread until someone on the Dail paul (http://www.dailypaul.com/node/47132) had confirmation.

He said they were meeting upstairs, but he could not confirm or deny that a convention was taking place.

And now we have a post Devon_Saunders who says:

I've a cousin in Sparks who asked around.. there are a large amount of what she was told were ~the guys from last night, the delegates~ upstairs at the Peppermill right now.. this is 3:33 Reno time, just got off the phone with her.

I am still not sure what to think so I am asking anyone here who is in, or knows anyone living in Nevada, anywhere near Peppermill Hotel Casino in Reno to try and get more confirmation on this report.

If this turns out to be a hoax, I appologise for helping spread it

just spoke to Magic at the Peppermill and he said that YES it is still going on at the Tuscany ballroom, the Nevada State Republican Convention. he said several people are there from yesterday. (775) 826-2121 Peppermill.

There are Ron Paul people there, but no convention.



This email is from one of the local meetup coordinators.



We have not gotten word through official channels (in other words, the campaign hasn't called the county points of contact and those points of contact haven't started their phone trees), so it's safe to assume anything online is pure speculation.


If that changes, you'll hear from me as soon as I know.

I edited my post to include the last official word I've gotten.

If that changes I will let everyone know.

We do have people stationed at the Peppermill. Several hundred of us showed up there this morning. I'm sure many of them are still there.

We also did sign in sheets with phone & email #'s in case the GOP showed up.

Hey guys...

I don't think this is accurate. I was staying on the 6th floor of the Tuscany tower where the convention was being held. I was there this morning at 7AM and hung around for a few hours along with a few hundred other people.

I finally left to catch my flight back to Las Vegas at around noon.

There was no convention. The room was not even setup for a convention.

I'm sure that what the Peppermill's employees are referring to is about some Dr. Paul supporters that are hanging around the area.

The GOP (well, all political parties) may play dirty sometimes, but I don't think they would get to such a point.

The Nevada GOP will announce in a few days where we will be meeting again...

JustBcuz, it seems that this may be a mistake.

According to a reply on the Daily Paul from randyjones:

Here's the "don't let internet rumors make you crazy" lesson for the day. I live about a 15-20 min. drive from the Reno, NV Peppermill and was there all day yesterday as a NV state GOP delegate. I'm even briefly in a few of the videos on YouTube of the meeting and chaos at the end.

I have been calling the Peppermill since early this morning, and have talked to a number of people there from the operator to bell desk to security to special events people. There didn't seem to be anyone who really was plugged in and knew with certainly if the Repubs were using the ballroom again today for a meeting. It was clear that a bunch of people had showed up, but that wasn't any indication that there was any official meeting.

Finally when I called about 2:30 a guy at the bell desk said that the GOP convention was listed on his "readerboard" activities for TODAY (Sunday) all day beginning at 9:00. With the various (misinformed) messages appearing here this afternoon I decided to run up there and check it out.

No one is there, and nothing is happening. The doors to the ballroom are locked, and I could see through the cracks that no one was in the room where the tables and vendors had been. In fact it had already been reconfigured with room dividers, apparently in preparation for the next event.

I did bump into another RP supporter who had a similar experience to mine with questionable/misleading "information" and who also decided he better come down and see what is going on.

So... There is nothing going on in the Tuscany Ballroom where the NV convention was yesterday at the Reno Peppermill. At least there are no visible signs and the employees I spoke with siad there had been a couple hundred people who showed up there earlier but nothing resembling a meeting.
