Notice, to take a recess requires a majority vote.
Needs to be seconded.
And can be amended.

So if you didn't get much sleep the night before, and you're tired... make a motion to lay on the table, as this may provide a more relaxing position. Keep in mind that your motion must pass with a majority vote.

I want to be able to help in anyway I can...

Maybe even bring some of our top lieutenants from LA with me.

We still have many conventions coming up... we need to get this sheet to all our delegates in advance.
Sorry it took me awhile to track it down.
The chairman of the Libertarian Party of Louisiana had brought them to the state convention.
I sent an email to him requesting a pdf. He sent it this morning.
I took a screenshot to post the jpg for visual and hosted the pdf from my congressional website asap.

I wish we all had this about a year ago, but we have it now.. so lets get this out there!

Do we have a library of grassroots tools?
LIke canvassing aids, grassroots owns(open source-like) voter list. etc.
If we take everything we learned from the last 12 months and put it into a body of work that easy to use. We will have the advantage for years to come.

I sent the following email to Brian:

Brian,

To catch you up to speed on how I got your contact info, I direct you to the conversation here: http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?t=134726
I have put up a cheat sheet for Roberts Rules for our future state and national delegates to use in assistance with their conventions. (I attached a copy for you)

I also wanted to extend an offer of help on the ground if needed in NV. We had a similar situation in Louisiana this caucus season and some of our experience from these battles could be useful in your fight in Nevada.
As I stated in the thread above: "I want to be able to help in anyway I can...
If asked, I would go and help them on the ground.
Maybe even bring some of our top lieutenants from LA with me."

Which spurred someone from your NV group to give me your email.

The offer stands. We are willing to do whatever it takes to assist you in your efforts.

Sincerely-

Brent Sanders

I checked it out, the only thing i'd change, where it says Roberts Rules of Order. i'd add (Cheat Sheet) or (Cliff's Note) (Condensed) or something to show its not the full book. but an easy to use guide to party procedure.

Good job... This needs to be more detailed though. Maybe add a second page that people could print out on the back.

I would suggest a brief description of what the word and motions used in RR actually mean.

What we need to say to prevent what happened in NV to happen again.

What we need to say when the GOP starts touting McCain.

What we say when the GOP attempts to install unapproved delegates

You know.. things of that nature.

I probably would want to red circle the line "Appeal the decision of chair" to emphasize that it is the assembly's decision that is always binding, never the chair.

Maybe add the two assumptions of RRO (you can find it on the introduction or something like that, IIRC):

1) Assembly decides everything! (e.g. it's never the chair)
2) Silence is consent! (e.g. it's your job to cry foul when a dirty trick is pulled)

In case of Nevada's convention, when Beers declared a recess, someone could have had stood up and called for an appeal to chair's decision, even if he left. Also, I'm pretty sure (but will need to find the citation) that RRO states that any motion, including recess, made without the proper procedures is null and void. This should be on the cheat sheet as well so anyone can cite it when same trick is tried again.

Well, we have a think tank of intelligent people here.

If people will help me organize the second page with definitions of each type of motion and when they are used, that would be a big help to me.
I can create the final pdf.

We can call it the RRO addendum.
Maybe even make it a learning tool.

I'm game, but i don't want to do this alone.

(I'm not sure how this will work if there are different editions out there, though...)

What about the idea of including assumptions? Would that help or just confuse people?

Right, my RRO is more recent edition (10th edition, in 2000). The concern was that if I referenced pages number, it may be only good for one edition, not for other editions. But from what I gather from reading this page (http://www.robertsrules.com/authority.html), it's responsibility of GOP to have the current edition. Of course, we should bring our own books but the citation should be for the current edition, so I'll do that.

can a cheat sheet get a sticky here?

when you sign up for the forums there should be a question.

Do you intend on becoming a delegate?
Are you currently a delegate?
If yes.. the redirect to cheat sheet.
This will be your weapon in the Thunder Doom arena of these conventions.
