Interesting article......be sure to notice the chart of "top 10 military spenders." Where are the massive threats of Iran and Syria on that list? And our expenditures total more than the other nine countries on the list combined.

It's worse than that, the US spends more on military than the entire world combined.

The last line on the graph - total spending (minus US) 500 Bn
US: 623Bn

I'm all for a strong military but there is such a thing as excessive. Then again the F22 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F-22_Raptor)alone is costing us $339 million per aircraft so the expenses just keep piling up.

All I can say is, for that much money, there better be some very very cool black programs in the budget, including a secret moon base ;)

I really don't mind spending more money than the rest of the world combined to have the coolest toys as long as they're used for defense. I am not so naive as to believe that other countries would never ever attack us if we simply lived a peace through trade lifestyle. I am not so keen on spending billions and billions to patrol the entire world.

I'd like to see American wars fought as following in the future...

I'd like to spend shit-loads of my personal money on cool toys for myself, but reality dictates that spending all my money on cool toys will lead to my financial demise.
