Lots of good news. I declared openly, gave my speech, and came up one single little vote shy of getting a primary billet to the Convention as a delegate. I count that as great news considering that I came up one vote shy. They ran the alternates as a seperate vote where I came in 4th again, but this time by a wide margin.

There were no platform or resolution calls, so nothing on that front, but even these stalwart Republicans, again, are a lot more receptive to RP than they were in any of the other states I have been to.

Manpower manpower manpower. Second district is the largest in the state, and one of the largest in the nation. Can't do it by myself guys.

more later, been up all night and day. over 24 hours now so must rest. But lots of good stuff happening.

Good news, Gunny, wished you'd made it as a delegate, oh well..

Man! One vote--sorry to hear that, but yeah, still good news.

Have a good snooze!

I was there earlier at the 4th and you wouldn't believe what they pulled. I'm too frustrated to get into it right now.

Ya, that was unbelievable.

Well I am very curious to hear what happened at the 4th. If I had gone stealth, I am certain to have made it in. But that's really not in me to do that. :(

Glen, it would have been easy as pie to get in. I mean, I'm not even in the 4th District and I got in, although it certainly helped that I work for B.J. Still, I'm pretty sure all you have to do to attend the district convention of a district you're not part of is register at the registration table as a "guest."

When I said "got in" I meant 'becoming a member of the national delegation' as opposed to just getting into the District Convention. I went as a Delegate. If they had not allowed me access to the Convention as a delegate, I can assure you threre would have been plenty of ugliness to go around.

I was AT the 2nd District Convention, I openly declared for Ron Paul, gave a 4 minute speech, and missed the national delegation by 1 vote.

You shouldn't have openly declared for Ron Paul. I know it sucks to not do so even if it's true, but if you hadn't you would have been elected.

Speaking of, though, did they tell you that you had to state your candidate? That it was state law to do so?

No, they did not state that it was state law, but yes, they did state that it was a state GOP by-law requirement. Which really REALLY pissed off the county GOP apparatus in my home county, (the county GOP establishment) who gathered together and lodged a formal protest (without being asked to) with the 2nd district chair and the state GOP.

Speaking of which, my home county of Franklin County NC is chok-full of strict constructionists and Goldwater conservatives. If you want to move somewhere where RP-ers are given a STRONG voice in the process, I have to reccommend Franklin County NC. The party establishment in my county here has not only been insanely friendly to our cause, they are actively trying to help us achieve our goals. Even the die-hard McCainiacs. No kidding. I am in some kind of shock.

I was at the 4th District. You got defeated fair and square. Maybe if you were a lil more knowledgable about Parliamentary procedure you would have seen it coming. Just a thought

That is not a very encouraging statement ...it might help him to tell him which parliamentary procedure that you know that he didn't ...it might help all of us.

Um. I tend to doubt that he wants to be either encouraging or helpful. Must be one of those "the Constitution is outdated" Republicans In Name Only people.
