Over 1,500 pro-Chinese government ethnic Chinese living in the US demonstrated outside of CNN's offices in LA calling for Jack Cafferty to be fired for calling the Chinese government a bunch of thugs:

I believe Cafferty deserves to be defended since he, more than any one in the mainstream, promoted Ron Paul.

Ron Paul sign on one side, Tianmen Square photo on the other, and three cheers for Jack over and over... I could go for that.

Sounds like a plan. But we should paint ourselves red white and blue and name ourselves Constitutional-Americans, an oppressed minority that believes in America's founding priciples. Then maybe we'd be covered by the MSM since we are apparently transparent otherwise.

That infuriates me as well.

I bet you over 90% of them are DailyKos visitors.

Something about that picture smells fishy. It's just too clean cut. The signs are perfectly made and everything is so tidy. It doesn't smell like motivated passionate individuals it reeks of paid protesters.

China is not even following the communist doctrine anymore lol why would they be pro? for purely nationalistic/racialist reasons?

Where is the Alien & Sedition Acts when you need them? ;-P

I agree with a previous post. This really stinks of Chinese government involvement. I would think that true Chinese Americans would agree with Cafferty. Where are the real investigative reporters. I would like to see someone investigate who was behind organizing the protest.

The first thing I thought was how did 1,500 Chinese people suddenly organize in one location over a simple quote like that? Not to mention the time and money involved with custom signs. This was rigged for sure.

This is really strange. Would be nice to get to the bottom of this. Do we have Chinese government agents trying to stifle freedom of speech in America?

We need more rallies like this one. It makes them easier to round up and send home. :)

that's lame. They're just as welcome as your ascestors, even if they do get paid to protest Jack.

I doubt CNN can read those signs anyway. lol

Actually, it is known that the Chinese government uses its citizens, by the thousands, to spy on foreign countries.

The protest is in Southern California- do you have any idea how many ethnic Chinese live within 100 miles of LA? There are almost 60,000 ethnic Chinese living within the LA City limits alone, not to mention the number that live in the suburbs and the rest of CA. You could probably get 1,500 ethnic Chinese just from a couple of the local universities

I think some of you misinterpret- the first poster mistakenly said that it was "1,500 CHINESE GOVERNMENT" defenders, but the article did not say that at all. It merely said that 1500 ethnic Chinese protested his comments.

AFTER the fact, Cafferty claimed he was calling the Chinese govt. "thugs", but thats NOT what he said. The way he worded it made it sound like he thought ALL ALL CHINESE WERE "THUGS." (You can hear the clip on youtube).

Hence, many ethnic Chinese were offended- they aren't necessarily "defending the Chinese govt"- they were defending what they thought was an attack against all Chinese- and given the way Chinese have historically been treated in the USA, its not all that "over the top."

Why would you want to "round them up" and send them from Hollywood to Los Angeles (thats probably "home" to most of them)?

Cafferty should get a promotion and a raise.

The Chinese government and Chinese people are inseparable. The general population, including the Chinese diaspora, is thoroughly infiltrated by agents of the PRC.

I disagree. You never see big Chinese rallies protesting the Chinese government's unbelievably harsh treatment of its own dissidents, or violent crack downs on Tibetan independence movements, or the fact that the Chinese government openly censors their internet. This is loyalist behaviour they're demonstrating. Also Cafferty later made clear he was referring to the PRC government, not Chinese people, with his comment.

I wonder how many of those signs were "Made in the USA" ;)
