First, in light of all the dismal reports, I want to point out that if you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you've always got. We know that marching into these conventions waving Ron Paul signs, wearing Ron Paul T-shirts, and protesting anything and everything does not work.
Second, we now know that keeping a level head, being well prepared, dressing professionally and acting professionally will get us much farther. So with that in mind, let's follow Frank Luntz's recommendations to the Democrats and make sure we are speaking in the right frame, the Republican frame. Nothing will make the hairs on the necks of Republicans stand up more then some one coming into the convention talking about how Bush is such a shill and this war is horrible. Though those things may be true, Republicans don't address their problematic leadership with such crude attacks. Instead they try to see what good he's done and move forward to undo the damage he's done. But it is a big "No, no" to talk bad about the leader of the GOP party at a GOP convention.
Third, along the lines of addressing Republicans in the Republican frame, never attack anyone. Commend them for their good intentions and then talk with policy in mind. Don't talk about the war as that is not going to get you elected as a National Delegate. Instead, talk about how you believe in a strong national defense and having troops here in the U.S. to protect us from attacks on our unalienable rights. How you feel that our military should take it's marching orders from our government and not from the U.N. Talk about socialism vs. republicanism/conservatism. These words will get you much further as you aren't attacking anyone. Someone who attacks someone else looks very unwise. Be wise with your words. Hang out with the old Republicans INSTEAD of other Ron Paul supporters. Encourage them to do the same. Do more listening instead of talking. Throw in a question here and there and agree with them on their intent.
Finally, we aren't facing some sort of conspiracy that all these old folks are in on. Most of it is that a lot of RP supporters going into these situations are not accustomed to the language that Republicans are accustomed to. Listen to their stations: Fox, Rush, Hannity, Ingraham, etc. Pick up on the words being used. But don't be an idiot, like Rush, and spend all your time attacking liberals/democrats/etc. That will not win you votes. He isn't running for any offices so he doesn't really care. Talk ideas instead of specifics. That's where you will find ample ground to relate upon. Remember that these are the same people who got Ronald Raegan in the White House. If they liked him, they will like you if you talk about the basic things most all Americans agree upon.
So now that we know what works and what to do that is right, let's change our country.
