We are looking for someone with a 55' diameter hot air balloon to fly the blimp banners over the GOP National Convention in Minneapolis.

The banners are 30'x90' and both should fit around a 55' hot air balloon with at most 2' overlap. They have grommets for tie downs, and we could probably add a strip of Velcro along the top as is sometimes used in this application.

If you can help, please e-mail:

thanks,

Nathan

What you might want to do is create a very brief, informative email/pitch and research balloonists in the MN area. "hot air balloon MN" yielded several good results with contact information. See if one of these balloonists would perhaps be interested in such an event. If the RP banner is in tandem with their own balloon graphics, they would be getting a lot of attention. A local owner/balloonist would also have the advantage of knowing local laws governing where and how the balloons can fly, and dealing with potentially bad weather in September.

Actually there was someone on here a LONG time ago that had a hot air balloon. I have no idea where...maybe try the search function. They posted these pics:

There was a guy from CT I believe that wanted to help out with the Boston Tea Party by bringing a hot air balloon. Let me see if I can find that meetup email.

Reminds me...there is a bill here in California to outlaw mylar balloons. Some Taliban member of our state assembly decided these implements of joy should be done away with.
