One time I ate a whole bunch of buffalo wings. The next morning I knew I was about to take a massive dump, so I weighed myself beforehand. Then after I deposited the trophy, I weighed again. I had lost three pounds. It's the most amazing way to lose weight. You should try it.

If you cut off your leg, you'll do both pretty damn quick.

George, best way it to exercise when you get up, BEFORE you eat anything. Whether its aerobic or weightlifting.. Also do not eat anything for at least an hour after you finish your workout as that will make your body consume your fat.
Arnold Schwarzenegger used to claim running made him lose weight the fastest.. and when He REALLY wanted to lose weight fast he would run both early in the morning and then again at night..

This is not really true. If you get up in the morning, dont eat, and lift wieghts, you will be destroying much more muscle then you will be burning fat. Breakfast should be your biggest meal of the day. It starts your metabolism.

Don't you steal my revolutionary diet method. I suggested this years ago.
Wanna lose weight? Fast? Who needs legs? Arms? Or even most of your liver or spleen!
That's right kids, have 'em removed. How much does that appendix weigh anyways? You don't need two kidneys--sell one of 'em and see the results on the scale immediately!
Down to that last stubborn 10lbs? Shave your head, have your tonsils removed, donate some blood, consider losing half an arm--you have another one. You also have two lungs, if you catch my drift.
Guaranteed to work or your money back.

Are you looking for a short term improvement- or long term results? Long term will take a lot of time and changed habits. Realistically, experts say you can lose two pounds a week on average if you include sensible eating and exercise.
First, don't restrict your calories too much- the body interprets this as a famine or food shortage and slows the metabolism down which works against you. If, as it sounds here, you are merely substituting things like whole grains, lean meats or other proteins, and fresh fruits and vegetables over sodas, chips, and pizza, you will be doing well. Diet sodas are said to not help- they can stimilate your appetite without satisfying it.
Try including weight training in your exercise. This will increase your muscle mass which is what burns calories (and why you want to avoid doing things that reduce your muscle mass). You can increase your muscle mass and decrease your body fat and not see any change on the scale since one is replacing the other.
Change up your routine every couple of months. The body will adjust to the inputs and demands. Quick weight loss is usually water which is quickly replaced. Do not go hungry. Keep your blood sugar levels up throughout the day by snacking- but not on candy or chips. Eat an apple or orange or fat free yogurt or granola bar. Several smaller meals (say four) is better than a couple of larger ones (say skipping breakfast). Keep at it! You can do it, but it will take time.

Don't bother, you wouldn't be able to accomplish it anyway. You can't even lose weight now while you're at your biggest - when it's the most easiest to start shedding those extra lbs.
You are more interested in people replying to you and feeding you attention than listening to what anyone has to say.
I told you how to lose weight before and laid it all out in your other 'I have blood pressure' thread - you didn't even respond or acknowledge it.

Dr. 3D- it was the other thread, I believe.
Oh, and why all those extreme measures? You lose weight every time you jump or take the elevator on the way down! You also weight less when you're submerged in a body of fluid such as water. In fact, you can even reach zero weight by taking a ride on roller-coaster with a loop, or go skydiving! For more permanent state of weightlessness, cough up some millions so Russians can take you up in the orbit.
Absolutely no need to change the mass if all you want is to lose weight. Losing mass is a bit more complicated, though.

I wouldn't say so.
He was in the midst of posting someone's--allegedly Dr. Paul's--phone number. It was a stupid thing to do. Even if it wasn't, Dr. Paul's, he didn't take the elementary step of using 555 for the exchange and it would have been someone's phone number. Seems silly but the forum owners bear litigious responsibilities, so...

Lyle McDonald is the leading non-BS diet expert. If you want real information, this is the place to find it.
www.bodyrecomposition.com Watch out for the forums though. They can be NSFW at times.
The Rapid Fat Loss Handbook is worth its weight in gold.
Bodybuilding.com has a lot of good info but there is so much BS bro-logic that it can be hard to find. You already have to know something about what you are looking for to be able to tell the difference between the BS and the good stuff.

Just focus on eating a balanced diet and getting daily exercise. The fat WILL come off, it takes tame, and it's better focus on the diet/exercise because most people will get discouraged by looking only at their weight and then get distracting from the important parts.
It's also good to remember that muscle weighs more than fat, this is why you want to shoot for a healthy body fat level and not some random goal of weight. If you are exercising in ways you haven't in the past, most likely you will be gaining muscle mass as you lose fat so the scale isn't going to show the results you're looking for, especially for the first few weeks.

Yes, yes, yes.
Nutrition, exercise, and getting enough *sleep* regularly are key to losing weight and staying healthy (many people forget the last one, but it's critical).
As for nutrition... eat regularly, at least 3 times a day. It is better if you eat smaller meals more frequently, say 6 times a day, to control your blood sugar and keep your metabolism up.
Get lots of:
-vegetables, as many different kinds as you can
-fruits
-whole grains and lean meats
-nuts and seeds, especially almonds and flax seed (essential fats are critical to weight loss; consider an omega-3 supplement such as cod liver oil if you don't eat much fish)
Avoid:
-hydrogenated oils (aka trans fats), high fructose corn syrup, and artificial colors and flavors
-processed meats
-fried foods
One thing I haven't seen mentioned is that some people who have trouble losing weight have a food allergy and don't even know it because the symptoms are so mild. The most common are allergies to dairy and wheat, but there are several others. Consider getting tested for food allergies by a physician.
As for exercise...
It is critical to incorporate some kind of weight training, even just a light weight circuit once or twice a week for 15 or 20 minutes, to keep your muscle mass up. I read somewhere that for every extra pound of muscle you have, your body burns 50 extra calories per day to maintain it. This is why most people experience the best body fat reduction results from weights and not cardio. But cardio is important for your heart, so you should do both.
On all other days, the simple rule is: do something physical, even if it's just a 15 minute brisk walk. Losing weight and staying healthy is all about consistency. Walking 15 minutes a day every day for a week will do much more than walking for 1 hr 45 minutes once a week. Do something that will get your heart rate above 120 bpm (preferably 120-140bpm) for at least 15 minutes a day, up to 30. Don't try to do too much, or you will become fatigued after a few days or weeks and give up. Ease into it.
EAT SOON AFTER YOU FINISH EXERCISING. As soon as you feel comfortable eating, do it. There is something called a "glycogen window" (at least that's what many athletes call it) that persists for an hour or less after you finish exercising. You need to eat some carbohydrates, preferably complex and/or natural simple (from fruit for example), soon after exercising to fulfill your body's need to replenish its energy stores. Your body is most effective and efficient at this in a short window of time after you exercise. If you don't eat soon afterwards, you will become fatigued after a few days and you will lose muscle mass. Both very bad things.
As for sleep...
It's important to get 7 or 8 hours (some people need more or less, but this is good for most) and to *go to sleep and wake up at the same time* (or approximately the same time) every day.
So how do you gauge your progress? NOT BY WEIGHT. Because you will be adding muscle even though you're losing fat. Ideally you would measure your progress by body fat testing, but it's costly and tedious to do it correctly. The simple way to see how well you're doing is to do it by inches -- measure your waist. The healthy range for guys is <35 inches. I'm not sure what it is for women. If you're above 40 inches, you need to reduce it. Waist size for men is highly correlated with heart disease, diabetes, etc. It's a good predictor of overall health.
This will all take time.... some people begin to lose weight right away, for others they will follow a lifestyle like this and not lose an inch for 2 months, then start dropping body fat quickly after that. The most important thing is to make the lifestyle change and to be consistent. Once you get into healthy habits, it's easier to maintain than you could imagine. From my experience, it takes about 6 months of living a healthy lifestyle before it becomes habit. Many give up before this. If you stick it out, you will be rewarded.
Good luck.

Being that I weigh 145 lbs and that is the heaviest I have ever been.
Add to that that it takes a brisk walk or a couple flights of stairs to bring my blood pressure to "normal" It is not an issue I worry about.
I also enjoy butter, gravy, red meat (medium, thank you) tobacco and beer. :D

stop torturing yourselves with diets. eat the way that is described in phmiracle for weightloss. this book by young is cheap at amazon. there are many more benfits in addition to weightloss, and the author himself calls it "ph miracle for whatever".

as a recently diagnosed diabetic (who was only slightly overweight) at first; go on the NO sugar, NO white food, Low to NO Carbohydrate diet and you WILL Loose weight.
NO sugar - use stevia
NO white food - NO white rice, NO white bread, NO mash potatoes (miss these:()
NO fried food/chick NO breading covered food.
NO Soda - NONE (i drink coffee, water, all kinds of teas). thats it!
Its also better to eat small meals 3 or 4 times a day;rather than one big meal as mentioned by someone previously.
At first i weighed like 125 lbs and wore a size 7/8; now im down to 105 lbs and in a size 4 :) slim and trim :) I can wear a bikini again :)

PS cut down or out the pasta also; smaller portions, whole wheat pasta or use dreamfields brand inulin pasta. I also miss the huge plates of spaghetti i used to eat, now its a smaller plate made with healthier noodles (you'll eventually get used to wheat noodles) :)
Good Luck. I also recommend reading Mike Adams (the health ranger) for reading nutrional info about herbs. His website is www.naturalnews.com
I use Barron Baseline Glucator V2 for my diabetes instead of scrpit from med dr for glipizide.
