The Founding Fathers knew very well that the majority of society did not have a head for politics and government. Thus, they created an electoral college.

The focus on "waking up the sheep" and other such broad-brush tactics to "enlighten" will only create a superficial following and is most likely a waste of time and money. True change in politics comes from very difficult and painstaking lobbying and playing the game.

How many people do you think really wants to spend the time understanding the federal reserve and how money works? Futhermore, how many would actually put time and effort in lobbying their representatives, gathering information, experts, etc?

Instead of "waking up the masses", better results come from finding the "hardcore" people around you and act like a Freedom Special Forces unit getting REAL legislation passed.

Anyone hoping to convert 100% of Americans to ideas of liberty is just setting their self up for disappointment. I like to look at this whole thing from the perspective of the American Revolution. There's that old adage about how 1/3 of the country supported independence, 1/3 were loyalists and 1/3 didn't care what happened. On top of that, only 3% of population fought in the Revolution.

In the 2004 election, Bush received 62,040,610 votes.

So that means only around 21% of the population voted for Bush. (Around 20% for Kerry. Together, still less than 50%.)

So I think, if we are to expect any meaningful changes within the USA, we should strive for having about 33% of the country (99.000,000 +/- people) supportive of the ideas of liberty and around 3,000,000 +/- people (3% of America) willing to be "super-activist" in the name of liberty.

I think I read somewhere that Paul has received somewhere around 800,000+ votes thus far. That's not taking into consideration Big L (Libertarians) and Independents open to our message, but who didn't switch affiliations to vote. Or those R's/D's very open to Paul's message, but unwilling to vote for him because of one or two issues. (Because "change wizard" Obama is running in this election, it probably hasn't helped Paul's numbers) Or of course those Paul supporters who haven't voted yet.

Just some perspective on things.

Or, we could just change the privilege of suffrage to only include property owners.

Ha ha! But that would just piss people off though, Nate. People like to feel they have a choice.

I think we need to focus on getting more delegate numbers, and getting a better organization. We can seriously do some great things in 2010 but we need to keep improving our machine and and get new ideas on the table so we do not stagnate and get suck in a rut.

Also, it is not ridiculous to think that they will not be expecting the same thing in 2008 and be making plans for it. I'll give you one example, they could already be in talks to prevent us from being able to get on Resolution committees. We need to ruin their shit by becoming a more effective and bigger movement and not having bet on doing the same tactics twice.

I'll be honest with you, I see our movement being in a somewhat down period right now and our biggest enemy isn't the neocons. Fuck them because they, the msm, and the democrats don't got shit on us. It is aimlessness and dissolution of our previous organization power and enthusiasm.

Thats right, the biggest threat is our own lazy asses.

We're trying to get a good sized chunk of people educated and active. We can reach critical mass with substantially less than 100%.

Majority rules, minority rights

Now if only there was some piece of paper that outlined these rights...
