I recently asked my class of 16 freshmen and sophomores, many of whom had graduated in the top 10 percent of their high-school classes and had dazzling SAT scores, how many had heard the word "rendition."

Not one hand went up.

Read the article to find out their reaction when the professor tells them what rendition is-- and how the professor replies.

ren·di·tion (rn-dshn)
n.
1. The act of rendering.
2. An interpretation of a musical score or a dramatic piece.
3. A performance of a musical or dramatic work.
4. A translation, often interpretive.
5. A surrender.

Definition 1 through 4 is the what I'm familiar with. I have never heard
it used in the context the author of the article (Ted Gup) is using it in.

5 from above leads to the following which I suppose is what is being
discussed in the article.

sur·ren·der (s-rndr)
...
2. Law
a. The delivery of a prisoner, fugitive from justice, or other principal in a suit into legal custody.
b. The act of surrendering or of being surrendered to bail.
c. Restoration of an estate.

The university establishment is by and large not conservative-- but concern over rendition in the WOT is not something only liberals have.

One of Ron Paul's main points about the American Freedom Agenda Act which he introduced was:

It prohibits kidnapping and extraordinary rendition of prisoners to foreign countries on the president's unilateral determination that the suspect is an enemy combatant.

This is something Ron Paul cares about quite a bit.

There was, in fact, a movie called "Rendition," starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Reese Witherspoon. This is probably the one the student in the class was referring to.

There was another movie, "Extraordinary Rendition," as well:

RULE #2: Never blame the people.

When they aren't part of a larger movement towards the civil purpose in the Constitution, campaigns are part of an erosion away from civil liberty towards tyranny. It is during their loss of soul to tyranny that Americans become hateful, irresponsible, confused, ignorant and even violent. So, the solution is for American's to rediscover their souls.

I'm not talking about his politics, but the wording he uses. Yes, we all know how badly fucked up the government is with human rights.
