We had our county convention today. Man it was a long day, but at the end we had 108 out of 112 delegates going on to state. Yes, that's right, McCain got a pidly 4 delegates in my county. RP got almost all the alternates, too. This is the most urban county in eastern WA, so if we can do so well here, we may just be able to take over the state convention.

King County(Seattle) had their convention today, too. I'm still waiting for confirmation, but rumor has it that McCain's supporters there got pissed and walked out of the convention. That meant there was no quorum, so their delegates to the state convention were appointed from the pool of those remaining. In other words, RP supporters supposedly got all the delegates in that county, too. That is the most populous county in the state, has lots of delegates.

I'm going to bed now, I'll post some highlights tomorrow.

(if i may interject a few inspiring 'Return of the king' quotes):

Pippin (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0101710/): We are sitting on a field of victory enjoying a few well-earned comforts.
[Merry blows a smoke ring]
Pippin (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0101710/): The salted pork is particularly good.
Gimli (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0722636/): [eagerly] Salted pork?
Gandalf (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0005212/): [exasperated] Hobbits.
Merry (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0597480/): We're under orders from Treebeard, who has taken over management of Isengard.
Treebeard (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0722636/): [as they walk toward the tower] Hroom, young master Gandalf! I'm relieved that you've come. Wood and water, stock and stone I can master, but there's a wizard to manage here. Locked his tower.

Gandalf (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0005212/): He's suffered a defeat, yes, but... behind the walls of Mordor, our enemy is regrouping.
Gimli (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0722636/): Let him stay there. *Let him rot!* Why should we care?
Gandalf (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0005212/): Because 10,000 Orcs now stand between Frodo and Mount Doom. I've sent him to his death.
Aragorn (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001557/): No. There is still hope for Frodo. He needs time... and safe passage across the plains of Gorgoroth. We can give him that.
Gimli (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0722636/): How?
Aragorn (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001557/): Draw out Sauron's armies. Empty his lands. Then we gather our full strength and march on the Black Gate.
Eomer (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0881631/): We cannot achieve victory through strength of arms.
Aragorn (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001557/): Not for ourselves. But we can give Frodo his chance if we keep Sauron's Eye fixed upon us. Keep him blind to all else that moves.
Legolas (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0089217/): A diversion.
Gimli (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0722636/): Certainty of death, *small* chance of success... ... .....What are we waiting for?

No it's not!!!!!!!!!!!

The lack of media attention has given us a HUGE advantage
and let's hope it stays that way... Vanity (MSM about delegates)
would spoil our advantage!

I agree, now you know, why winding down was so important. "Winding Down" = flying under the radar, IMHO!

And I'll say it again, Rush Limbo's "Operation Chaos" is helping us! Intended or un-intended, it's blowback. 10's of 1,000's of voters are voting Hitlery, that has to help Ron Paul.

Good job WA.!

Yeah but will it help with the delegates?

I think this is just great. I love it. I hope this is a pattern with the delegates in all states. If anything won't it limit the number McCain has so he doesn't get the nomination on a silver platter and this will force a brokered convention?

If anything we will be having our voice heard come convention time! :D

Could someone PLEASE explain to me where the media keeps getting this number of 14 delegates?? They keep reporting this number over and over. What are they talking about, when the majority of the delegates being selected at county conventions are for Ron Paul, not McCain???

Just today AGAIN: "GETTYSBURG - Never mind that Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul has won only 14 delegates and that there's no way he can catch John McCain, the GOP's presumptive presidential nominee with 1,334 elected delegates...blah blah"

Only under current state party rules. If 2/3 of delegates pass a resolution to unbound his delegates, then no, they can vote for whoever.

The Spokane County Republican Party formally rejected the Iraq policy of their current president and their party's likely nominee, saying American troops shouldn't be on overseas missions for more than six months without a formal declaration of war.

From the Spokesman Review. It's a subscription, so - would anyone care to elaborate? This is just beautiful.

Great News Spokane! (From Tacoma)

You're take on the King Convention is partially correct. It's actually all bad. King County is the seat of the Republican Left in Washington. All delegates were already elected at the 17 leg. district conventions, and we were mostly totally marginalized. This county convention was oly to deal with Rules, By Laws, Candidates and platform. Platform is why we were there - and they knew it.

By the McCain supporters walking out (which seemed planned, by the way) the leadership could act on a resolution that was introduced early on to LEAVE THE PLATFORM DECISION TO THE CENTRAL COMMITTEE, so of course we lost all that we wanted and they passed a mainstream BS platform county.

This is what I gather from the meetup boards. No matter though - this is still just the beginning!

Once again - GREAT WORK SPOKANE!
