Filings completed for political party precinct committee members

Contested positions to be resolved in August primary

Filings have closed for precinct committee men and women for the Republican and Democrat parties in Barry and Lawrence counties. Where more than one person filed, an election will be held.

Contested positions will be resolved in the August party primary, within each precinct. Positions with no filings may be open to write-in candidates, subject to willingness to serve and eligibility under party central committee rules.

Lawrence County

Republicans left only three positions without any candidates by the close of filings in Lawrence County. No candidates emergence for committeeman in Freistatt, or committeewoman in Freistatt or the North Aurora precincts.

Several races developed as well. Of particular interest are filings by supporters of presidential candidate Ron Paul, who rose to prominent positions in the recent caucus.

LOL funny you say that, this pic is right outside of my house and we moved here a month ago, as soon as I saw those mailboxes I was like, "How in the hell do those stay there"

funny enough, they have been there without being hit for a LONG LONG time... its annoying when theres a line around them and I choose that way to go home... there are just under 8,000 people here, it is really small but I like it, and we are a block from the downtown business district which is really old and cool

the town flooded a few days ago if you want to see pics of that go to http://www.monett-times.com and click on picture gallery theres a picture of a stop sign almost under water, makes it look like the water was 6 foot deep, but the stop sign is only like 3 feet tall, so someone from the paper was probably like, a flood, lets go get a pic of the shortest stop sign in town! kinda funny

Reminds me a bit of a town I grew up in and went to school at, I lived ten miles out in the country. Except the population of that town was about 1,500.
