Honestly I would be PO'd but frankly I'm more numb. I have the, 'after 1,000 abuses, what's 1,001?' feeling right now. That's doesn't make this any less abhorrent, mind you, it probably just means I need a vacation.

Thanks for the reply.

I'm about ready to send up my DON'T TREAD ON ME flag. For all the good it will do. At least it'll make me feel better.

Who in the hell allowed this?...i suppose i should be grateful they didn't have auto_ weapons.

One thing for sure, i'm not watching any Olympics again.

God help us all.

I was watching the news here mostly for comedic effect and they said they were volunteers from police academies. And I thought that is cool. They are not stealing from municipalities or wasting too much money. Other than flying them around and such.

Then I saw them watching crowds like hawks, obviously very fit and aggressive. It was complete and total BS. And the news did not even comment on the obvious lies. I thought if they are police at all they are very elite. Why cant the media notice or report anything?

I don't think it's difficult to connect any abuse to demonstrators as authority crushing the individual spirit... Bad move on China's part.

Japan says it will not allow the "Chinese flame guards", Australia has indicated the same. Wish the US had the guts to stand up to these Chinese thugs . . .

Carter said a Chinese paramilitary squad escorting the torch pounced and turned her over to cops, who pushed her into the crowd.
"Apparently, I'm not part of the Olympic torch-bearing entourage anymore," Carter quipped.

If people could separate politics from a sporting event this wouldn't be an issue.

Instead they use some sporting event that athletes have trained their entire fucking lives for and instead of a celebration of the athletes we have some stupid debate about how China runs their government. What business is it of ours in the first place? It isn't, and that's what Ron Paul thinks as well and that is the reason why he was the ONLY ONE to vote against a resolution condemning the Chinese.

I say better Chinese government provide security than our tax dollars.

I don't support giving their cops the slightest authority over our citizens on our soil under any circumstances. That torch run didn't need to pass through our neck of the woods at all. Wiser heads would have just said no.

Politics has always been in the heart of the Olympics.

But the Games were not only a forum in which to discuss political events; they were also the cause of political conflict.

Yes, I agree, wiser heads definitely would have said no. But, the Chinese paramilitary don't have authority. All they are there for is security and protection. They can't arrest you, and hold you in Chinese prisons under Chinese laws. They are there for protecting their own assets and property (the torch).

I wonder what they were carrying in their side pouches?

and..

I wonder what would have happened if an American protester had gotten close enough to get physical with one of those 'torch guards'...that would have been 'interesting'...

The running of the torch through a gauntlet of protesters would make a good Olympic event....lol!
